Today marks a decade since legendary ABC broadcaster Eoin Cameron died.

His daughter Jane Gasper spoke to Paul Cook on ABC Great Southern Breakfast reflecting on her dad’s life and how loved he was by the audience.

"I remember a long, long time ago Dad taking us to Karrinyup shopping centre and people kept stopping and talking to him and I couldn't work out why,” she said.

WA's Road Safety Minister has announced up to 150km of Albany Highway will be covered by new mobile point-to-point speed cameras.

The cameras, which calculate a driver's average speed between two points - currently only exist as permanent fixtures along a 25km stretch of Forrest Highway.

Reece Whitby said a single-point speed camera already deployed Albany Highway has caused a significant drop in speeding infringements.

"We saw a reduction of about 77 per cent in speeding...going from about 11 offences per 1000 vehicles down to 2.51 per cent per 1000 vehicles," he said.

Congrats, Albany Surf Life Saving Club! 🏊

Albany took out a couple wins at the WA Surf Life Saving Awards over the weekend, including Club of the Year.

Club President Anna Emery said on ABC WA Regional Mornings the whole club was ecstatic about winning.

"All our members have pitched in, done the hours volunteering, helping out with carnivals, events," she said.

"Most importantly, we have been on the beach to support our young people how to learn to become surf lifesavers and keep the community safe."

The club's Paul Bairstow also won Age Group Manager of the Year.

Half of the state's European Wasp nests are in Albany.

As wasp season is wrapping up the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development want you to keep an eye out for them.

DPIRD's Kris Armstrong spoke to Paul Cook on ABC Great Southern Breakfast, and said if the wasps survive the winter, they can "supercharge" in spring.

"Wasps can survive winter and when spring kicks in, they've basically got a ready-made palace,” he said.

"The queen supercharges that nest and lays a hell of a lot of eggs really quickly and you get a massive number."

Erica Honey has put a call out to the Corrigin community, asking for stories of pups at rest in the Corrigin Dog Cemetery.

Ms Honey is hoping to compile these stories into a book, with the profits used to maintain the iconic dog statue that honours the cemetery’s furry residents.

She said the inspiration came from her experiences with her own childhood pet.

“Growing up in Corrigin, we had a little dog called champ. Champ had a fantastic life and at the end of his life, my family decided to bury him at the local dog ceremony,” she told Ela Bristow on ABC Great Southern Saturday Breakfast.

“Every time I go home, I drive past and say hello to champ.”
