Scenes from Driver’s Ed

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been busy across the south - working with students from TCC, Julian Cho Technical High School, and Independence High School, while also rolling out the Women’s Driver Education Initiative.

These photos and clips represent more than just a training program. They represent structure, opportunity, responsibility, and hope for a safer Belize.

In light of the increasing number of road accidents happening across the country, we believe that Driver’s Ed can no longer be treated as something optional or informal. Too many people learn only the mechanical side of operating a vehicle, while missing the attitudes, awareness, and decision-making that safe driving truly requires.

That is what these initiatives are about.

It has been inspiring to work with so many young people and participants who are eager to learn, ask questions, and do things the right way. From online training modules, to classroom discussions, to guidance on the permit and licensing process, we are proud to be building a more structured approach to driver's education in Belize.

This is only the beginning.

Registration is Now Open: Capstone Teaches e-Learning

Interested in building online courses, managing learning platforms, or delivering engaging virtual training experiences?

Capstone is officially opening registration for its upcoming e-Learning Training Program, running from June 15th to July 21st.

This 6-week training combines both live online sessions and self-paced learning activities, providing participants with practical, hands-on experience in modern e-Learning development and delivery.

Topics include:
✅ Platform Development
✅ Course Authoring
✅ Learner Engagement
✅ Assessment & Tracking
✅ Training Delivery & Support

The training will be facilitated by Ritchie Bardalez, who brings over 14 years of experience working with platforms such as Cornerstone OnDemand, Docebo, Oracle Taleo Learn, SAP SuccessFactors, Absorb LMS, and Moodle.

Live sessions will be held twice per week (2 hours per session), with the final schedule determined based on participant availability submitted through the registration form.

Whether you are an educator, trainer, public servant, HR professional, business owner, NGO staff member, or simply interested in digital learning, this training is designed to help you develop practical, real-world e-Learning skills.

As part of our ongoing commitment to giving back, and in another important milestone for road safety in Belize, Capstone has launched a first-of-its-kind Driver’s Education initiative in high schools.

This week, fourth form students were granted access to Capstone’s online theory modules—offering a flexible way to complete the theoretical component of driver's education. This is especially valuable at a time when students are balancing graduations, CXCs, and other commitments.

The theory component covers:

-Introduction to Driver’s Education
-The Mechanics of a Motor Vehicle
-Traffic Laws and Regulations
-Defensive Driving Techniques
-Driver's Attitude and Responsibility

In addition, students will receive guidance on the learner’s permit application process and the steps required to obtain a driver’s license, with a strong emphasis on doing things the right way.

This model follows established approaches used in developed countries, where Driver’s Ed is introduced during the final year of high school. Schools focus on delivering structured theory, while parents support the practical driving experience. This approach keeps training accessible while ensuring that students develop the knowledge and mindset needed for safe and responsible driving.

Capstone Women’s Driver's Education Initiative – Applications Open

In Belize, the ability to drive represents freedom, independence, and opportunity.

In recognition of Women’s Month, Capstone is launching a special Driver’s Education Initiative to support women who are ready to take that step.

Through this program, a limited number of participants will receive structured driver's education designed to build safe, confident drivers and promote greater independence on the road.

Participants will be selected through a short application process, as spaces are limited. The training will be held in Big Falls, Toledo in April–May, with dates confirmed after participant selection.

We’re proud to share a historic milestone for road safety in Belize - the completion of a Defensive Driving Training with James Bus Line.

This training focused on real-world defensive driving techniques, hazard perception, decision-making, and professionalism behind the wheel, all tailored specifically for the unique demands faced by bus operators. The goal was simple but powerful: equip drivers with the skills and mindset needed to anticipate risks, protect passengers, and operate safely in all driving conditions.

Conducting this training was both inspiring and rewarding. The engagement, openness, and professionalism shown by the drivers made for meaningful discussions and hands-on learning. Seeing experienced operators reflect on their habits, share on-the-road realities, and actively commit to safer driving practices reinforced just how impactful this kind of training can be. We’re grateful to James Bus Line for taking this important step and for demonstrating a strong commitment to safer roads for everyone. 🙏🏽
