Pumpkins for Piggies

Hello Everyone,

This is an update for the 2026 Pumpkins for Piggies.

The SHORT update; we will have to cancel this years collections, we don’t have the money to fund the event this year.

Unless we can find donors and are able to raise the money to cover gas and rent the uhaul truck.

The LONG version:
This would have been our 6th year running a VERY successful and helpful donation drive, connecting multiple communities and helping to feed over 60+ animals that have been rescued from neglect, abuse, etc.

Every year this endeavor has been completely funded by myself and my mother. One year we did attempt a toonie donation, we raised about $60.

Every year we rent a uhaul truck… $450
It takes multiple days for house to house pick up, gas for our pick up is anywhere from $150-200 depending on prices, and it’s been 2-3 fill ups within the week we are collecting. I pay for a program to organize, route, and track all of our pick ups for increasing amounts; the first year I used it, it was $7, last year I think it was $12.

If we could raise $200 (in just gas cards at minimum) we could afford to bring a pick up load to the sanctuary.

Another $200 we could bring a second pick up load.

We’ve never asked for money before; this has been a side project for my mom and I these last few years, we love doing the pick ups, we love searching out pumpkins, the drive out there is gorgeous. The only thing holding us back is the financial obligation this year.

Before anyone asks, We did reach out to Carroll's Animal Sanctuary and Rescue and they have noticed a decrease in donations and financial aid this year. They don’t have the funds to spare for this, they’re focused on making sure they are able to pay for the animals bedding, food, and vet bills.

We are open to ideas on how else to make this work. This project has grown larger then we ever anticipated and for that My mom and I are grateful for everyone who’s donated a pumpkins, shared our posts, and encouraged us over the years.

We aren’t done yet.
