Summer storms can develop quickly, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous conditions. Be prepared before severe weather arrives.
- Charge your phone and essential devices.
- Secure loose outdoor furniture and decorations.
- Keep flashlights and batteries in an easy-to-find place.
- If you see a downed powerline, stay at least 10 metres away and report it immediately.
A little preparation today can help keep you and your family safe.

When you see our crews working, slowing down helps keep everyone safe.
Our line crews often work just steps from live traffic. Whether we're responding to an outage or performing scheduled maintenance, please reduce your speed and give our crews plenty of space to work safely.

See a downed powerline? Stay back.
A downed powerline may still be energized, even if it isn't sparking or making a sound.
If you come across one:
⚡ Stay at least 10 metres away (about the length of a school bus).
⚡ Keep others, including children and pets, away from the area.
⚡ Call 911 and report the downed line to us at (905) 723-4623.
⚡ Never touch a downed powerline or anything it may be in contact with.
A few simple steps can help protect you and those around you.
Help keep our community safe by sharing this reminder.

When the lights come back on after a storm, it is easy to forget what it took to get there. 💡
Today is National Lineworker Appreciation Day, and we're celebrating the powerline technicians who keep Oshawa powered. Working with high voltage takes years of training, sharp focus, and complete trust in your crew, and our team does it with pride every single day.
But you might also recognize them from outside the bucket truck. Our lineworkers volunteer at community events to teach kids how to stay safe around electricity, and every fall they raise the banners that honour our local veterans ahead of Remembrance Day. Whether they are restoring power or giving back, they show up for this community.
To our lineworkers: thank you for keeping Oshawa connected ⚡
If you see a crew out working today, give them a wave!

⛳ Thanks to everyone who helped make the 2nd Annual Oshawa Power Charity Golf Classic a success!
We're proud to share that this year's event raised $30,000 in support of Their Opportunity, an organization helping Canadian children overcome barriers to sport and recreation.
Thank you to the 120+ golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and employees who joined us at Sunnybrae Golf Club, and a special thanks to Hockey Hall of Famer Doug Gilmour for spending the day with us.
Every dollar raised supports programming for underserviced youth at home in the Durham Region and across Canada.
We can't wait to build on this success next year. ⚡️
Check out some highlights from the day!
