For three years now, Carmen and I battle it out to see who can consistently beat our single day sales record.

That battle always happens on this weekend in Manitoba! With Carter at Scattered Seeds Craft Market in Winnipeg and Carmen at π”Ήπ•£π•’π•Ÿπ••π• π•Ÿβ€™π•€ 𝔸𝕣π•₯𝕀 & ℂ𝕣𝕒𝕗π•₯𝕀 π•Šπ•’π•π•–

Last year Carter and Carmen went back and forth, each destroying our sales records and ultimately Carter coming out as the winner by $500!

This year we are bringing MORE jerky, MORE flavours, and more drive to see who can be the 2026 winner!

Let's go Manitoba!

Before I built Carzan, I had to rebuild myself.

I was overweight, unhappy, depressed, working full-time at a steel mill and ranching full-time on top of it. I was working myself into the ground, and looking back, I wasn't living a life I was proud of.

My divorce was the turning point. It forced me to take a hard look at myself and where my life was heading. I knew I needed to make changes, and my health was the first place to start. I started eating keto, working out every day, and paying attention to what I was putting into my body. That's when I started flipping packages over, reading ingredient lists, and questioning what the hell was in the food we were eating.

Along that journey, I met Carmen. At the time, I didn't think I deserved a woman like her, so I took a year to work on myself and figure out who I wanted to be. Eventually, I showed up on her doorstep and begged her to take me back. Thankfully, she did. πŸ˜‚

Then COVID happened, and spending all that time together made me realize I never wanted to go back to the steel mill. I'd always believed I was meant to do something bigger with my life, and with Carmen beside me, we took the leap. We started Carzan, I quit my job, burned the boats, and went all in.

Six years later, four of those building a jerky brand, it's been one hell of a ride. Long days, sleepless nights, mistakes, sacrifices, and more stress than I'd care to admit. Has it been easy? Not a fu***ng chance. πŸ˜‚

But I get to work from home, be there for almost every one of my kids' activities, ranch, work alongside the woman I love, and connect with incredible people across Canada who are making changes in their own lives. That's worth more to me than any paycheque.

Carzan was never just about selling beef or jerky. It grew out of my journey to take control of my health, understand where our food comes from, and build a life I wanted to live.

I'm still figuring things out, making mistakes, and grinding every day. But I get to do it on my terms, surrounded by the people I love.

I get to live my best day, every day. And that's what success looks like to me. ❀️

There are more days we love living in small town Sask than there are days we wanna move!

Because it says like this. Load up the wagon with jerky walk one little girl to kindergarten and take the three year old to the post office.

The slow down is making us realize where we want to take this business!

I love travelling. I love seeing new places, meeting new people and experiencing the energy of a city like Toronto.

But damn, it feels good to come home.

Back to my family, ranch work and building this business.

Open skies. Quiet. And views that stretch 40, 50, sometimes 70 miles from our family ranch in the Touchwood Hills.

Sometimes you have to leave the prairies for a few days to remember just how damn lucky you are to call them home.

Cows, open skies and prairie sunsets.

That’s what my dreams are made of. πŸ€ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

That's a wrap! WOW!

What a wild 2 days IN Tdot.

We met our heroes, only to find out we are their heroes. Wild!

We had people asking us if we are using one of the biggest names in cpg content creation to help us make content lol. I guess a question he gets asked too! When we thought our content kinda sucked.

We got pulled aside by vendors, retailers and distributors who sought us out, have been watching our socials, and wanted to congratulate us on our growth, presence and voice in this space and ag.

We also met multi million dollar founders in person who we were online friends with and realized maybe bigger isn't always better.

We had conversations that definitely have changed our lives and our trajectory.

Thank you to everyone, for the love, the support and the candidness when we needed it most!

See you in Vancouver!

We are all one degree of separation in the cattle industry and usually on the prairies!

We're at our first Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) show in Toronto!
This is where the movers and shakers in health food are in Canada.
We packed 50lbs of jerky and a 50lb tradeshow display into two suitcases and prayed it would arrive.

Nervous and excited. But here we do!

This came up in memories today. Man it's hard watching our kids grow up!
Time felt like a snails pace as a kid, then you have kids and everything moves at night speed.
It's why we have decided to slow down a bit. Slow our growth and enjoy our family while there young.

We're bringing the prairies east. 🌾

Carmen and I are packing up the jerky and heading to CHFA East. If you're there, come find us at Booth in the Greenhouse.

Grass-fed, grass-finished Canadian beef, made by a ranching family from Southey, Saskatchewan. Come try a few flavours and say hi. We'll be the ones who look like we just drove in from the pasture, because we did.
