The garlic crop was a bust, but the walla wallas are crazy!

Last year some of my garlic wasn't curing properly. Bought new seed. Garlic looked great. Now as it is being cleaned, some have a green layer right next to the hardneck. The skin is very thick and not drying. Turns out it is a disease called yellow asters, caused by a leafhopper, that overwinters in alfalfa, sow thistle. Thrives in wet conditions which this year was. Garlic is fine to eat, but will not last to plant. Slowly going through my garlic, but can't tell, especially on my red russian which is infected and which isn't. Joys of farming this year. Wondering if garlic on the edge of swamp is a good idea. Throw the dice, driest year ever last year, wettest year ever this year.
Now's the time to capture all the freshness in your garden herbs. PC stole my idea!

This has been a late summer, but your garlic should be coming out now! Less than 4 green leaves and the garlic wrapper won't be nice and tight for winter storage.

Garlic is slow, but coming along. Have some dead patches, but some very green ones. Still too many green leaves to harvest but soon!
