Let's talk Mohair!
While it looks a bit intimidating on the skein, mohair can be a wonderful addition to your stash! You can knit with it on it's own to make feathery, lightweight wearables or hold double-stranded with another yarn to add extra warmth and a soft, fuzzy halo to your projects.
Another fun feature of holding it double with another yarn is increasing yarn weight!
This means you can knit that gorgeous lighter weight skein into a DK or worsted weight pattern - like this Julie Asselin Journey Sport!
15 colours of Cascade Kid Seta just arrived and I've put together some colour combos, plus some free hat patterns that just use ONE skein of each!
Which combo is your favourite? 🧶🌈

Finished Object Friday!!!🎉
This week's Finished Object is from our lovely customer, Coleen, who recently finished up this STUNNING hat and mittens set!
The pattern is the newly released Una Set by Traci Scott (Fleece Love and Happiness)and features Cascade 220 Fi*****ng yarn.
Cascade 220 Fi*****ng is a 100% non-superwash wool yarn that is ideal for stranded knitting, lace projects and lightweight wearables. It is 'sticky' yet soft - the perfect colourwork combination! We love this yarn for it's versatility and affordability.

Happy October, Fibre Friends! 🍂🍁🧶
Sharing my Pumpkin Spice-inspired socks from a couple years ago because Oct 1 is also Pumpkin Spice Day!! 🎃🧁☕🍂
This is the Stashbuster Stripes Work Socks from the Saltwater Socks book by Christine LeGrow & Shirley A. Scott. I knit them with Briggs & Little Heritage in COCO's Bakeapple Jam, Turquoise, Natural White and Seafoam.
This is one of my favourite Saltwater patterns because the combinations are endless! Great for stash busting or creating perfectly matching socks! And they just seem to fly off the needles when you're chasing that next stripe!
I have the yarn and book in stock in you want to cast on pair for yourself!

St. John's/ CBS peeps - The Bay Kitchen Vol. 1 & 2 is now available in your area!
Hello, CBS! ❤️
I’ve now lived in this beautiful community for a little over a year, and I’ve definitely become a regular at Needs on the Conception Bay Highway… mostly because of my Red Bull addiction. Don’t judge me — the lovely owner, Judy, doesn’t! 😅
Well, that lovely lady has now offered to carry The Bay Kitchen Volume One & Volume Two at the store, and I’m so happy to announce that my cookbooks are officially available at a CBS location!
So if you’re in the area, drop by Needs on the Conception Bay Highway, grab yourself a Red Bull (because obviously 😂), and check out the books!
It means so much to me to see The Bay Kitchen making its way into more local stores and into more Newfoundland kitchens. ❤️
Thank you, Judy, for giving my books a little home at Needs!

KT Knits & Design's new book is almost here!
Good news everyone - the book is almost here! We’ve gotten word that the books have landed in Canada and are in the process of getting to Newfoundland. Hopefully we will have books in hands soon! 😍
Until then I’m going to keep showing pictures of the new patterns included in the book. This one is perhaps one of my favourite things I’ve ever designed AND knit. This is a colourwork yoke PONCHO that is fantastic for layering. The sizes range from 0-10 years, but this pattern is very easy to modify for grown ups too!
Also a HUGE thank you to Berroco Yarn for the yarn support on this. The alpaca blend creates the most beautiful halo for this whimsical knit!

From Laine:
One skein, 52 possibilities!
52 Weeks of One-Skein Knits — the ninth volume in Laine Publishing’s hugely popular 52 Weeks series — celebrates the joy and versatility of a single skein of yarn. The book’s 51 knitting patterns and one crochet design come from talented designers around the world, and each project uses no more than 100 grams of yarn. The collection includes hats, socks, shawls, cowls, collars, hoods, headbands, mitts and mittens, worked in techniques ranging from lace and cables to ribbing and textured stitches. There are plenty of approachable projects for beginners, too.
Small projects are satisfying to make and easy to carry wherever you go. They are perfect for making the most of your yarn stash — or for treating yourself to that special skein you have been dreaming of.
