More cutting boards finished up, whohoo!, and I also made more of the smaller cutting boards.
The first of many more crib boards completed as well.
Please take note of the really cool inlay in the crib board and some of the cutting boards. Huge thanks to Melissa/Cedar Creek Creations for making these PEI cutouts. I can now add the island of P.E.I to my wood working projects. So, for a lot of my items potential buyers can chose the P.E.I inlay,Canada pin inlay or the all wood top .
I think its time to switch over to some Christmas creations now.
Fun facts:
-You can take a horse to water but a pencil has to be lead.
-Four out of every two people don't know math.
-My wife is mad at me because I have no sense of direction. So I packed my stuff and right.

A few more projects completed. There is a handfull of small cutting boards, some baby foxes, a few dog door stops and a couple keepsake boxes.
One box has a resin inlay picture of a local beach and the front has a resin circle with beach sand inside. The other is a cool little box for guitar picks or whatever a person decides.
Most of my work now will be for the Christmas market at the Dome in Summerside on Nov 21st and 22nd.
Big shout out to a really cool store in Summerside, Cedar Creek Creations. The store has some really cool items and although it is closing this week it is so worth a visit either this week or when it reopens in the spring.
Also a big thanks to Parker's General store in Halls Harbour for a great season.
Also I can't forget to mention Our Mother's Keepers, the store in Windsor that got me started and keeps me going year round.
Three cool stores with cool stuff!

I'm getting some products finished now in preparation for the Christmas markets or as stock for the stores. Cutting boards, baby cutting boards, charcuterie boards, crib boards and a collection of cats, foxes and birds.
The cutting boards are made with some really pretty spalted birch, as are the crib boards.
Note my Canadian pride as I added Canadian flags and pins to a lot of the items.
I painted the eyes on the critters this time to add a little more "pop". Also, on some of the cats I did a few with whiskers. It will be interesting to see if the whiskers make a difference sales wise.
Lots more to come.

I have started working on items for a Christmas market or two. Crib boards, cuttting boards, door stops, etc. My plan is to make a large stock of my regular items and then switch to Christmas ideas. Lots of things aready started (with a ton of sanding required!)
As you can see I have purchased a large collection of live edge material, so I have lots to chose from. Also exploring some new ideas.

I made four new crib boards with a cool twist. These boards had a colored resin on the bottom third and clear resin on the top. This allows you to see down inside the knots, holes etc. It's a really cool effect. I know my pictures will not show that detail as well as I hoped.
I did explain a bit of the process in the pictures and it was a very long process.
These boards were finished with the same product I use on the cuttting and charcuterie boards, a nice coat of mineral oil and beeswax. Really gives it a smooth glass like finish.
Enjoy the pictures. FYI, my cat, Gee, is in the last one. He was in my way the whole time I was trying to take pictures and when I was finished he decided it was time to go sleep between my guitar cases.

I have been somewhat slack lately, not really doing much except cleaning up the shop. However, I did make these cutting boards as gifts for some folks. I have had some people go out of their way to help me when I was in a bind so I thought I would show them a little thanks. There is a little something different with these boards . I added Canada flags to them and the back drop was made with white resin. My poor picture taking is evident but you get the idea.

I was asked to make a crib board for someone. I thought I better give her some options. Beech and walnut really have colours and grain that pop when the finish is applied. Live edge may not be for everyone but it sure adds character.

I made another version of these fish scenes. They can sit on a flat surface or be hung on the wall. The fish are all different types of wood, the backs are all oak and the reeds are different colours to add some pop. Good fun.

I seen this idea on Facebook, so this is my version. These guys are all held up by magnets trying to meet. One magnet in the frame and one in the sea critter/ guitar. However the bottoms are all tied off with a very fine line so they stay suspended. It's a very cool illusion as any breeze makes them move and dance. It was a challange to get them tied off at the right point for sure.

A black walnut and an apple crib board completed today. The walnut always looks nice. The apple is a real unique piece of wood and made a very cool crib board. I will be curious to see if it sells
