Ce poney a été filmé à Meknès, au Maroc. Il est l’un des innombrables animaux exploités dans les zones touristiques à travers le monde. Pour une photo, quelques pièces, un petit tour…il passera ses journées ici, harnaché, immobile, au milieu du bruit et des regards. S’il ne bouge pas, ce n’est pas parce qu’il est calme. C’est ce qu’on appelle l’inhibition acquise : il a appris que se débattre ne servait plus à rien. Ce n’est pas du folklore. Ce n’est pas de la tradition. C’est de la maltraitance. @oks_roman

The statement ‘The dancer’s body is simply the luminous manifestation of the soul ‘ is a well known quote attributed to the modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan. It reflects her philosophy that dance should be a natural, expressive art form, arising from the inner spirit rather than rigid technique. She believed that when the body was freed from structured movements of classical ballet, it could become a conduit for the soul’s expression, a radiant visible expression of the soul’s energy. Dancers & gymnasts have inspired my drawings & sculptures since I was a child. They make such enduringly fascinating subjects for artists. All that grace, beauty & poise, what artist could fail to be inspired by those muscular limbs & sinewy frames!

I worked with the brilliant photographer Cyril Torrent for several years capturing that luminosity for his beautiful book ‘Sculptures de Lumière’ he is the maestro of chiaroscuro, light & shadow & knows exactly how to turn his subject into a sculpture of light.
