Alvitra design is a design studio specializing in design and manufacturing of hand blown glass lighting. We are based in the Czech Republic, Bohemian region where the tradition of glass making is hundreds years old and still nowadays Bohemian glass makers offer top quality skills valued over the world. Fascinated by the tradition and beauty of this unique material, we design glass lighting for houses and interiors. We love the process of creating new designs from the initial idea to the moment the final product is made and installed. We regard shape and colour combinations crucial to the final result and love to play with different variations and alternatives. With various shapes and colours the variations are boundless. All our glass lights are handblown pieces produced in small local glassworks. Glass is unique incredible material of specific nature and understanding the process of glass making is very important when designing a new piece. As each piece is entirely handmade slight variations in shape, size and shade of colour can occur and are natural result of the handmade process making every piece original and unique. Besides offering ready glass lighting and chandeliers we also invite our clients to get involved in the exciting process of creation on their own and encourage them to create their own glass lighting creations.
