Tropical Cyclone Update

Tropical Storm Hagupit is moving west-northwest at 9 mph. It is expected to maintain this course and speed through Friday. Tropical storm Hagupit continues to move towards Yap Proper and Ngulu. The Tropical Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Tropical Storm Warning for Yap Proper and Ngulu. A tropical storm warning continues for Woleai, Fais, and Ulithi. The Tropical Storm Warning for Faraulep has been cancelled.

Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. Hagupit is forecasted to maintain this intensity through tonight before gradually intensifying Friday through Saturday, remaining a tropical storm through the next few days..

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 115 miles northeast and 90 miles northwest.

Winds are subsiding over Woleai and may fall below tropical storm force tonight. It is important to remember that even though the winds are subsiding, stronger gusts
are possible over the next few days, especially with any showers that do occur. Tropical storm force conditions are expected to begin at Fais Friday morning and Ulithi Friday afternoon; and subsequently subside Friday afternoon for Fais and Friday night for Ulithi. The onset of tropical storm force winds look to approach Yap Proper Friday evening and Friday night for Ngulu. Winds look to subside across Yap Proper and Ngulu Saturday afternoon.

An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 1100 PM ChST followed by the next scheduled advisory at 200 AM ChST early Friday
morning.
