Calling on Chefs!

With the Med season coming to an end, we thought it is a great time for something fun.

We’re putting together a small, invite-only 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗳 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and I’d love to include you.

We’re selecting just a few chefs to submit 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗵.

With my colleagues, we will then select the top 10 plates.

We’ll then showcase the top 10 on our LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram pages where our audience will be able to vote for their favourite plate.

You can choose whether you’d like your name attached to your entry or if you prefer to remain anonymous, completely up to you.

And of course, there’s a little something for the winner..

🏆 The chef with the winning plate will receive a €2𝟬𝟬 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Here is how to take part:

- Select *𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀*
- Email the photo to [email protected] and [email protected]
- In the mail let me know whether you’d like your name displayed or your entry kept anonymous.

Applications close on 25th October.

Can’t wait to have you involved in this exciting competition!

MEET THE TEAM | LAURA HAYES 🌟
Four years at sea, countless charters, and a few lessons you won't find in any yachting handbook… Meet Laura!

What happens when you combine over four years of hands-on yachting experience, a passion for people, and a sharp eye for detail? You get Laura Hayes, one of our Interior Recruiters at Lighthouse Careers.

Having worked her way up to Head of House, Laura knows firsthand what it takes to succeed onboard. From demanding charters to the importance of teamwork, she's experienced it all, and now uses that knowledge to connect talented crew with the right opportunities.

But there's more to Laura than recruitment! We asked her a few questions to get to know the person behind the role.

✈️ What does she miss most about yachting?

The travelling! Seeing the world and discovering incredible places was one of the biggest highlights of her time onboard.

😴 And what doesn't she miss?

Those long hours and back-to-back charters on very little sleep. If you know, you know!

💪 Her biggest lesson from life at sea?

Resilience and teamwork. Yachting taught Laura just how much she could handle and the importance of pulling together when things get tough.

🤫 Something candidates might be surprised to learn?

Despite working in a people-focused industry, Laura admits she's actually super shy!

📄 Her two biggest recruitment pet peeves?

Documents that aren't clearly named or submitted as PDFs.

Candidates applying for roles without meeting the stated requirements, especially when their CV claims they have excellent attention to detail 😂

🐾 And finally, meet Ozzy!

Laura's adorable four-legged companion, who already has a very promising career ahead of him.

Position: Laundry Master 🧺

Special skill: Chewing absolutely everything made of fabric!

We're not entirely convinced the Chief Stew would approve of his methods 😂

Laura brings valuable onboard experience, industry knowledge and a genuine understanding of the challenges yacht crew face.
