Charlene Barr started to raise money to build Hidden Treasure school in Uganda before she died in Oct

Charlene's Project has two main aims:

- Relief of poverty, hardship and distress
- The advancement of education for children and young people in Uganda and beyond

We strive to meet these aims by providing

School and educational facilities
Accommodation
Staff to provide care and education
Financial and ongoing material support

The continuing aims and objectives of the charity will be to continue to tell Charlene's story and to inspire the people of Northern Ireland and also those in Uganda. In doing so we will make a positive difference for the community surrounding the 8 neighbouring primary schools we are working with in Kiryandongo District, Uganda.

August 31st 2027 - Finishing well - Charlene's Project 14/09/2026

Charlene Barr, had the faith to dream of building a school in Uganda. Through Charlene’s Project, her family and friends have continued that dream since she died in 2010.
It has never been the intention that Charlene’s Project would last forever.
It has long been the plan that once Charlene Secondary School was established the work would pass over to our Ugandan colleagues.
At the end of August 2027, that time will come.
Meanwhile there is work to be completed with the ongoing building and equipping of vocational blocks at Charlene Secondary School.
As Charlene’s Project transfers the oversight of Charlene Secondary School to Charlene Education Foundation – WE WANT TO FINISH WELL.
Help us to complete what Charlene started.
