Switchplane

We’re pleased to be exhibiting at Eastbourne DigiFest!

We’ll have the whole Switchplane team present for both a valuable day of education and time to connect with the local community.

Our co-founders Tom Fielder and Joel Fielder will both be speaking at the event. Our latest blog post “Beyond the AI Buzzwords” gives a sneak peak on what you can expect from their sessions: https://www.switchplane.com/blog/2026/beyond-the-ai-buzzwords/

If you’d like to be present on the day, book your ticket at eastbournedigifest.com.

Hear from our MD Tom Fielder as he joins the "AI on Site: Where Construction is Actually Using AI Today" panel line up at the Kent Construction EXPO, at Kent Event Centre, Detling, on Thursday 1st October.

You can also catch up with Tom, Adam, and Sarah on Stand S09 and ask any questions about building software and AI solutions that reduce costs, unlock growth, and allow you to work more efficiently.

Reactive workforce scheduling creates a very recognisable pattern:

A project manager waiting for a qualified operative. Someone checking paperwork to confirm a certification. A renewal that was missed. Schedules that shift. Pressure that builds.

It's not always about poor management. Often, it's about information being difficult to access when decisions need to be made.

There's a better way to work - and Adam Dowding, our Head of Product, has written about what it takes to move from constant firefighting to genuinely proactive planning:

Adam will also be at Kent Construction Expo next week, so if you’re attending, pop along to chat about this with him and the team on stand S09.

Back in 2013, Grassroots Su***de Prevention had a problem: no app existed in the UK to help people stay safe from su***de. As a charity delivering face-to-face training in Brighton, they knew technology could help them reach far beyond their local community - so they came to Switchplane to build it.

Together, we created the Stay Alive app - now with 1 million downloads worldwide and available in 12 languages. It gives people practical, pocket-sized support in a crisis: local and national helplines through the "Find Help Now" feature, a personal "LifeBox" of reassuring memories, and customisable wellness and safety plans.

76% of at-risk users say Stay Alive has helped them stay safe.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, we're proud to share the Grassroots team's story, and to remind anyone who needs it that support is available.

📱 Stay Alive is free both to use on your browser and to download for iOS and Android: https://stayalive.prevent-su***de.org.uk/

If you or someone you know needs support, the Samaritans are available 24/7 on 116 123.

If something goes wrong on a project, one question almost always follows: what actually happened?

For businesses in construction and other high-risk industries, that question can carry serious consequences. A safety incident, a contractual dispute, or a regulatory inspection can unravel quickly if the evidence isn't there.

The problem is that most audit trails are assembled after the fact. Reports written at the end of the day. Spreadsheets updated a week later. Photos buried on someone's phone.

Memory fades. Context disappears. And when it matters most, the record falls apart.

The difference between an audit trail that holds up and one that doesn't often comes down to a single thing: when the data is captured.

Our Head of Engineering Lewis explores how capturing information at the moment work happens - not hours or days later - transforms audit trails from an admin burden into a genuine operational asset.

✅ Faster investigations
✅ Stronger compliance
✅ Earlier identification of risk

60 to 90-day payment cycles in construction aren't just a client problem - they often start inside your own processes.

When quoting, delivery, and invoicing live in disconnected systems, every handover creates friction. Someone needs to check, confirm and clarify, and that all adds time before an invoice even goes out.

Our Head of Engineering, Lewis Hobden, has written about how connecting those steps can change the cashflow picture entirely - with some real examples from businesses we've worked with.

Worth a read if payment delays are a pressure point for your business:

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're proud to spotlight our friends at Grassroots Su***de Prevention 🧡

Back in 2013, the Grassroots team spotted a gap: there wasn’t a su***de prevention app available in the UK. So we worked together to change that.

The result? The . Free, award-winning, and putting life-saving support directly into people's pockets.

Grassroots connect, educate and campaign nationally to empower people to help save lives from su***de, and it's been a privilege to be part of that mission.

Tom, Joel, Sarah, and Donna are looking forward to an exciting day at Vistage UK's AI for Growth Forum at the IET London Savoy Place tomorrow.

If you're attending, be sure to pop by our Marketplace stand to say hello. We'd love to have a chat about how AI, automations, and software can help to supercharge your business productivity.
