✨ September was a wonderful month for Eric’s Escapes!
Our travellers enjoyed two fantastic days out, packed with creativity, delicious food, beautiful places and plenty of time to relax, explore and enjoy each other’s company.
🍫 A chocolate-filled adventure in Peebles
Our Chocolate Maker’s Retreat took us back to the brilliant Cocoa Black, where our travellers got hands-on creating their own delicious truffles, pralines and ganache. There was plenty of time afterwards to explore Peebles before enjoying an overnight stay at the beautiful Tontine Hotel.
🏡 A day at Paxton House
Later in the month, we headed to the Scottish Borders for a lovely day at Paxton House. From exploring the stunning interiors and impressive art collection to wandering through the beautiful grounds, there was something for everyone. Guests could take their time exploring independently or join a guided tour, followed by a delicious lunch of sandwiches and cakes in the old stable block.
It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying new experiences, discovering beautiful places and making memories together.

Megan visited a fantastic service in Hong Kong today that, like us, supports people living with dementia and their carers, while also working to create dementia-friendly communities.
A huge thank you to the team for their warm hospitality and for taking the time to show Megan around and share more about the incredible work they are doing.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn from one another and see how dementia support is being delivered on the other side of the world.

Today in Hong Kong, our CEO, Megan delivered a keynote on Eric Liddell’s humanitarian legacy as part of the inaugural Peace Day Symposium and Exhibition, hosted by Kong香港都會大學 Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
The event also saw the launch of a new exhibition celebrating Eric’s life and legacy. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the values he lived by and the enduring impact of his humanitarian work.
Megan also had the chance to speak with Chinese media, including a student from the Shenzhen branch of , Edinburgh.
Eric Liddell’s legacy is clearly still very much alive in Hong Kong, and it was wonderful to share his story and values with the next generation.

On Sunday 13th of September, 35 people walked the Kiltwalk to raise vital funds for The Eric Liddell Community.
A lot of us took on The Big Stroll, an epic 11-mile walk around the coast, while some brave walkers took on The Mighty Stride, a 21-mile challenge. Between sore muscles, blisters and tired feet, our fantastic supporters kept going to raise money for the Eric Liddell Community and the people we support.
We were delighted to have walkers representing a wonderful mix of our ELC community, including teams from Caremark, Bruntsfield Medical Practice, Aberdein Considine and 181 Deli, alongside ELC staff, our amazing volunteers, service users, families, friends and long-standing supporters.
It was particularly special to see members of our wider ELC community taking part and supporting the event. Events like this are a brilliant reminder of just how much our community is built on the support and commitment of so many people.
There’s still time to donate!
Our walkers have already helped us raise £6,300, which will make a real difference to the work of the Eric Liddell Community.
If you’d like to support our Kiltwalkers, or know someone who might, there’s still time to donate! Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue providing vital services for those with dementia, their carers, and the wider community.
Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, cheered us on and helped make the day such a success! 💙
