The company had found a site the exact same size as the one in Vegas, with room for 21,500 seats right in the city, and they’d spent five years and millions of pounds on planning, design and engineering to get every detail ready to build.
What actually killed it wasn’t the cost or the size, it was the screen. That same wraparound display that makes the Vegas Sphere so iconic would have faced straight into hundreds of homes and student rooms nearby, lighting them up every single night no matter how low they dimmed it, and locals objected.
The local council rejected the plans, and when the developers appealed, the government stepped in and tried to overrule the mayor’s decision entirely, which is when it stopped being a planning dispute and turned into a proper political standoff over who actually gets to decide what gets built in the city.
Rather than keep fighting it out, the company just walked away, so was blocking it the right call, or did London basically hand a billion dollar attraction to someone else?

Our very own Chloe has decided that running 13.1 miles this Sunday sounds fun 😅
And well, we’re not sure about that… we ARE 100% sure about the cause.
All her fundraising is going towards supporting Alzheimer’s UK.
Go get it, Chlo! We’re cheering you on every step of the way 💙

It’s Libra season … the sign that will spend longer picking what to wear to the show than the show itself lasts.😅💅🏼

We didn’t realise how much Shakespeare we use in a normal day until we made this.
Four phrases, four different plays, all still in everyday use centuries later.
The man basically invented modern conversation!

That’s right, Shakespeare was saying ‘in a pickle.’ The modern phrase just doesn’t sound like something the wordsmith would say, but it’s actually from The Tempest.
When King Alonso asks Trinculo how he ended up ‘in this pickle,’ it’s not because he’s in trouble, it’s because he’s absolutely hammered. 😅🍺
Pickle comes from the Dutch word ‘pekel’ meaning brine, and the joke was that he was so preserved in alcohol he’d basically never decay!
The phrase has stuck around for 400 years, so next time you use it just remember you’re now technically a Shakespeare scholar 💅🏼
Live music used to be one of the most affordable ways to spend an evening. Concert ticket prices have consistently outpaced general inflation for decades, and that gap has only widened since 2020, driven by bigger production costs and added fees on top of the ticket price itself. So when you actually sit down and work out what gig tickets cost some of the biggest names in music history, once adjusted for inflation, it puts today's prices into a completely different perspective.

WARNING: This is going to ruin gig tickets for you forever. 😭
We all know how expensive concert tickets have got but when you look at what The Beatles, The Stones and Dylan charged fans, you’ll wish you had a time machine.
We’re curious to know what’s the cheapest ticket you’ve bought?

Not sure why this needed to be said but here we are! Cate Blanchett had to ask people to stop filming her play at the National Theatre this week.
Her reasoning was simple, recording ruins it for the next audience who actually want to be present with the performance.
She joins Cynthia Erivo and Andrew Scott who’ve said the same recently. Theatres already ask you not to film so it’s not exactly a new rule.
We ran a poll on this and the result was unanimous, 100% agreed. So put the phone away!

Playwright John Dennis created a thunder sound effect for his 1704 play — the play flopped, but another theatre nicked his thunder technique for their production of Macbeth.
His reaction basically wrote the idiom for us: ‘They steal my thunder!’ Proof that even a failed show can still leave a mark on the industry.
