Providing up to date information on domestic and commercial waste services and campaigns across Perth and Kinross.

This account is monitored during our opening hours 8.45am-5.00pm Monday to Friday. We're here to provide information and help householders and businesses with their waste and recycling. We aim to be respectful in our posts and any comments we respond to. We expect the same of all those contributing to our page. We want our page to be safe, friendly and an open place for discussion on all things waste and recycling related. We therefore have the following house rules to help support that:
- All users must comply with the social media platform's terms of use as well as our own terms of use
- We answer enquiries/messages as soon as possible within working hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
- We will remove, in whole or in part, posts that we feel are inappropriate – for example bullying or harassment - or discriminatory against any individual or group
- You are wholly responsible for any content you post including content you choose to share
- We will remove messages (where function allows) and report and/or block users on our social media channels who post messages at us which we believe are:
- abusive or obscene
- deceptive or misleading
- in violation of any intellectual property rights, including copyright
- in violation of any law or regulation
- spam and off-topic content
- promotional material

Anyone repeatedly engaging with us using content or language which falls into the above categories will be blocked and/or reported to the associated social media platform. We will not tolerate or respond to abusive messages. We must always remain politically neutral on social media which is why council officers are unable to reply to, endorse or engage with, any content that is of a party political nature. Political issues can be discussed with local councillors.

Are you one of the millions of people who has a ‘drawer of doom’? You know the
one - filled with broken cables, old chargers, tangled headphones and other
unused tech.

You’re not alone - and we’ve got the perfect solution to help save on cupboard
space, and the planet!

This International E-Waste Day, we’re taking part in
Great Cable Challenge. By recycling our cables and other electricals stashed in
our ‘drawer of doom’, the copper and other precious materials can be used
again and again for things like phones, transport, clean energy and even
medical equipment.

You can get involved too! Simply:

• Bag up all your old cables and other unwanted electricals
• Use Locator to find your nearest repair, donation or recycling point: https://bit.ly/44RRFTn
• Save valuable copper from going to waste!

What is flytipping?

Flytipping is a deliberate act of dumping waste somewhere it shouldn’t be. It can be anything from one bin bag to huge piles. It can be rubbish from households or rubbish from businesses. Flytipping is illegal in Scotland.

If you are identified as the source of flytipped rubbish, you could face a fine of up to £40,000, be taken to court and even end up with a criminal record. This applies even if you did not dump the rubbish yourself.

Welcome to Flytipping Fortnight!

Flytipping doesn't make waste disappear. It passes the problem on because someone always pays the price. We're supporting Keep Scotland Beautiful's campaign to tackle flytipping and encourage everyone to dispose of their waste responsibly. If you're paying someone to take your waste away, ask for their registration number and check it on the SEPA register before handing over your waste.

As it's Sustainable Fashion Week, why not drop-in and try our monthly Mending Café in the Lend & Mend Hub at the AK Bell Library this Saturday. Join us between 11am and 2pm and bring those clothes that need a little freshening up, or maybe try your hand at embroidery and cover that coffee stain that just won’t come out with some creative stitching.
