Port Talbot Funeral Service
Independent Funeral Services | Private Chapel of Rest | 24 Hour Personal Service It closed its doors in 2008 as a Church and was left to deteriorate.
Holy Cross Church, otherwise known as the Chapel of Ease was built in 1827 with the permission of Margams 'Talbot' family. Plans were sought to change the Church into a house, which included relocating several headstones and surfacing over those graves to provide a parking area. However, Mr Malcolm Evans, a lifelong member of the Church and local funeral director purchased this beautiful building and restored it to its former glory including the magnificent stained glass window. The surrounding grounds are also maintained meaning the final resting place for your loved ones is both a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

🐐💔 THE END OF AN ERA AT HOLY CROSS… BUT A NEW CHAPTER FOR OUR FAMOUS FOUR! 💔🐐
This is a post we genuinely hoped we would never have to write, and one that comes with incredibly heavy hearts.
Our famous four, Eddie, Summer, Emily and Father Ben, have officially left Holy Cross Church and moved to their new home at Wiggleys Fun Farm. ❤️
To say we’re devastated would be an understatement.
When we first introduced the goats to Holy Cross, our intentions were simple. We wanted to find a natural way of helping maintain the vast, historic churchyard, tackling some of the brambles, bushes and overgrown areas that have proved so difficult to manage over the years.
What we never expected was just how much these four little characters would capture the hearts of an entire community.
From the moment they arrived, they became so much more than four goats helping with the grounds.
They became part of our family.
They became part of Holy Cross.
And, somehow, they became little celebrities! 🐐❤️
We’ve watched people travel from near and far just to catch a glimpse of them. We’ve seen children excitedly running towards the gates, families stopping to take photographs, and visitors spending time with them simply because they brought a smile to their faces.
We’ve received countless messages, photographs, videos and even drawings. We’ve seen them featured in newspapers, on television and across social media.
But above all, we’ve heard stories from people who told us that these four goats brought them happiness, peace and comfort, sometimes at moments when they needed it most.
That is something we will never, ever forget. ❤️
Sadly, due to the leasing and contractual arrangements surrounding the land, alongside some recent incidents and concerns, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision that the goats can no longer remain at Holy Cross.
We appreciate that a churchyard is, first and foremost, a special place of remembrance, and we have always wanted to respect that.
Nevertheless, making this decision has been absolutely heartbreaking for everyone involved at Port Talbot Funeral Service.
We’ve grown incredibly attached to them. From the early mornings feeding them, to watching them explore the grounds, getting up to their usual mischief and occasionally testing our patience, they’ve given us memories we’ll treasure forever.
But amongst all the sadness, there is some good news. ❤️
We are absolutely delighted that our famous four have found a new home at Wiggleys Fun Farm🐐
And even better, they’re not too far away!
Knowing that Eddie, Summer, Emily and Father Ben have somewhere new to call home, where they can continue being their cheeky, curious selves, gives us enormous comfort.
We’re especially grateful that they’ve been able to stay together. After everything they’ve experienced as a little group, we couldn’t have wished for anything more.
We want to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone at Wiggleys Fun Farm for welcoming our famous four and giving them this next chapter.
We really couldn’t be more grateful. ❤️
And to our wonderful community…
THANK YOU.
Thank you for welcoming them, loving them, visiting them, sharing their adventures and making them feel like such a special part of Port Talbot.
What started as a simple idea to help maintain the grounds became something far bigger and more meaningful than we ever imagined.
We’re going to miss seeing their little faces every morning. We’re going to miss their antics, their personalities and the laughter they brought to Holy Cross.
And if we’re being completely truthful, Holy Cross is going to feel a little quieter and a lot emptier without them. 💔
But this isn’t goodbye forever.
Our famous four are still local, and we hope everyone who has followed their adventures will continue to show them the same love and support at their new home.
So please, give Wiggleys Fun Farm a follow, support them and, when you get the chance, pop along and say hello to Eddie, Summer, Emily and Father Ben.
They might have moved on from Holy Cross, but they’ll always have a very special place in our hearts.
Four goats. Countless smiles. Memories we’ll never forget.
Thank you for everything, our famous four. 🐐❤️
With love from everyone at Port Talbot Funeral Service.

🐐 Chris and His Famous Four — Never Far Apart! 🐐
Our Famous Four have formed the most wonderful bond with Chris — wherever he goes, they’re never far behind!
Today, they even followed him right up to the vestry door and tried their very best to get inside to see where he had gone! If Chris disappears from view, they stand patiently by the gate, calling “BAAAAAA” at the top of their voices until he returns. 😂
And every morning, the moment Chris arrives at Port Talbot Funeral Services, the excitement begins! They run to greet him, jumping around and making enough noise to wake the whole community — so apologies if our four-legged alarm clocks get there before yours! ⏰🐐
They may have originally joined us to help keep the grounds tidy, but they have become so much more than that. They are part of our family, part of our community, and they absolutely adore Chris — although we think the feeling is very much mutual. ❤️
Life at Holy Cross simply wouldn’t be the same without Chris and his loyal Famous Four!

✨ AN EXTRAORDINARY GIFT, CREATED BY AN EXTRAORDINARY MAN ✨
Today, we would like to recognise and thank a very special friend of Port Talbot Funeral Services — a talented gentleman who is also well known and highly respected throughout our community, Mr Tony Pugh.
Tony has lovingly created this breathtaking scale model of Holy Cross Church, the home of Port Talbot Funeral Services, using recycled slate, glass and metal.
Every single brick, every individual roof tile and every window has been carefully handcrafted. From the church and surrounding grounds to the funeral vehicles — and even our beloved Famous Four goats — every tiny detail has been meticulously designed and brought to life.
When the sun goes down, beautiful blue lights shine through the miniature church windows, making this remarkable creation look even more magical. The time, patience, imagination and craftsmanship Tony has poured into this model are beyond words.
This is far more than a model. It is a piece of local history, a celebration of our beautiful church and a wonderful gift to Port Talbot Funeral Services and the entire community.
Tony, you are an exceptional man with an extraordinary talent. We feel incredibly fortunate to call you our friend, and we cannot thank you enough for creating something so meaningful and special for us.
This magnificent model will soon be proudly displayed at Holy Cross Church, Port Talbot Funeral Services, where members of our community will be able to visit and appreciate Tony’s incredible work for themselves.
Tony, we think the absolute world of you. Thank you from everyone at Port Talbot Funeral Services — and especially from me personally.
With all my gratitude,
Chris

🐐 An Update on Port Talbot’s Famous Four 🐐
We know how much our Famous Four mean to the people of Port Talbot, so we wanted to let everyone know that they are all happy, healthy and doing extremely well.
We originally brought them to Port Talbot Funeral Services to help keep the grass and grounds tidy—but they soon became so much more than that. With their cheeky personalities and lovable nature, they have become a huge part of our funeral home and are now well-known and loved throughout the community.
They bring smiles to so many faces, and we are always touched by the number of people who ask how they are doing and enjoy seeing them around the grounds.
As you can see, the Famous Four are looking very relaxed and enjoying life together. Thank you to everyone who continues to care about them and show them so much love.
They are not only our four little helpers—they are a very special part of Port Talbot Funeral Services and the wider Port Talbot community. 💚

It’s been a little while since we checked in with our famous four, so we thought it was about time for an update!
After the summer heat, Eddie, Summer, Emily and Father Ben seem to be very happy with the cooler weather. They’re back to doing what they do best, exploring the grounds, tackling the brambles and overgrowth, and generally getting up to their usual mischief! 😂
And judging by this photo, they’ve also discovered that four goats can apparently fit quite comfortably on one grave… 🤦♂️🐐
They really have become such a loved part of Holy Cross and we’re still amazed by the interest and support they continue to receive. We’ve had visitors, photos, videos, artwork and messages from people near and far, all because of these four cheeky characters!
They’re all keeping well and, as you can see, very much enjoying life at the chapel.
We’ll try not to leave it so long before the next update… although we can’t promise the goats will cooperate! 😂🐐❤️

💜 It means more than you know…
Receiving feedback like this from a family we have had the privilege of supporting means so much to all of us at Port Talbot Funeral Service.
We take enormous pride in what we do, but more importantly, we take pride in how we do it. Every family is different, and every farewell deserves to be personal, thoughtful and carried out with care, compassion and attention to every little detail.
Knowing that the personal touches, from the Chapel of Rest through to the crematorium, made a difficult time a little more special for this family is exactly why we do what we do.
A heartfelt thank you to the family for taking the time to share their kind words and for trusting us to look after their loved one. 🖤
