La Grande Mare
La Grande Mare is an elite golf destination in Guernsey. Always Extraordinary.
Our 18-hole course and state-of-the-art Golf Performance Centre have no equivalent in the Channel Islands.

There is golf, and then there is where you play it.
The west coast of Guernsey. Ponds, wetland and open water on one side, the Atlantic on the other, and a course that sits inside the landscape rather than on top of it.
You can play good golf in a lot of places. Not many of them look like this.
Leave ordinary to others.

Every shot, measured.
At the Golf Performance Centre, Trackman reads every swing and gives you the numbers behind it: ball speed, launch, spin and carry. All from a covered bay looking straight out onto the range, whatever the weather is doing.
Practise on your own, work with Sue Shapcott, PhD, PGA, or start from the beginning with our four-week Learn to Play programme.
Open seven days a week, 7am to 9pm, through October.

An island course is a different job.
Salt in the air. Wind off the Atlantic. Weather that can change three times in a single round.
Rick on what it takes to hold a course to this standard on a small island, where everything from turf to timing has to work around conditions nobody controls.
Guernsey doesn’t make it easy. Nothing extraordinary ever is.

Guernsey is more than a place to visit. It’s somewhere to experience.
From the rugged beauty of our west coast to quiet coves, coastal paths and some of the most spectacular sunsets, there’s something rather special about our island.
At La Grande Mare, we’re fortunate to call this coastline home, with eighteen holes set against one of Guernsey’s most beautiful backdrops.
Come for the golf. Stay for the island.

This is what a golf course looks like when somebody actually counts.
As the survey season begins to wind down, it's worth reflecting on what has been recorded at La Grande Mare so far this year. Across 100 acres of Guernsey's west coast, surveys have recorded 200 invertebrate species, 84 bird species, 10 bat species, six mammal species, four freshwater fish species and an amphibian species.
These records have been collected through a combination of field surveys, citizen science, camera trapping, acoustic monitoring and environmental DNA sampling, allowing species to be identified without ever disturbing them.
La Grande Mare is not a golf course with some wildlife on it. It is a valuable part of Guernsey's natural environment that happens to have eighteen holes running through it.
Every survey, species record and observation helps build a clearer picture of the biodiversity that exists here and informs how the landscape is managed for both people and nature.
Survey work led by our Ecologist, Grace Dovey.

Ask the people who know it best.
Rick and the greenkeeping team see this course before most of us do. Through every season, every condition and every change in the landscape.
There’s a different perspective that comes from knowing every inch of a course. The work behind it. The details others might miss. The way it changes from one day to the next.
A course shaped with care, seen through the eyes of those who know it best.
Always Extraordinary.

Everyone ends up in one eventually.
The method is the same as anywhere else. Commit, swing through, and don't look at your playing partners until the ball has landed.

Some courses are walked. This one is read.
Eighteen holes laid across more than a hundred acres of Guernsey’s west coast, where water, wetland and contour decide as much as the scorecard does.
Seen from above, the shape of the round starts to make sense.
