Christelle recently organised a site visit for her second-year students from Oxford Brookes with local developer Christchurch Homes.

After reviewing the working drawings, the students visited the project in person, the conversion of a purpose-built office building into 1- and 2-bed apartments just outside Oxford city centre near Summertown.

For many, it was their first time on a live construction site, a valuable opportunity to see how drawings translate into real buildings.

You may have noticed a new face on the seafront!
With the scaffolding now down and the sun finally out, the building is starting to reveal itself.

Thank you to Premier Construction - Channel Islands for featuring the Creasey’s redevelopment.

The project involved repurposing a neighbouring five-storey building and carefully integrating it with Creasey’s existing store, improving layout, light and accessibility while maintaining retail operations throughout construction.

A great collaboration with the wider project team.

Works are progressing well on the new Home Bargains store at Quayside, with the main retail unit now well advanced and on track for completion later this year.

Across the site:
1 – Durlston House being converted into residential flats, alongside the listed La Croix building which will become a small commercial unit.
2 – The main Home Bargains retail unit, now well progressed with solar panel array in place.
3 – Future car park area serving the development.
4 – Existing granite wall being retained, with bespoke artwork to be installed describing the history of the granite industry in Guernsey.
5 – Mowlem House, a protected building being converted into flats.
6 – An existing building being converted into a new café space.

Works also continue on the fit-out of the additional residential and retail units across the development.

For International Women’s Day, we’re sharing some of the activities of the Women in Architecture network in Oxford which Christelle is involved with, where she helps organise events which bring members together, from social meet-ups and project sharing, to site visits.

With IWD2026 theme this year GiveToGain, we feel that this is one example of where we can collaborate, support and celebrate everyone within the industry. So we wish to thank everyone who has shared their knowledge, skills, mentored and given their time over the years and very much looking forward to many more opportunities of sharing and building a stronger community.
