“But men must also speak up among other men, challenging the comments and behaviours that feed into violence against women. Learn a language for speaking about violence against women. Speak from the heart. Learn what to do when your mate makes a joke about r**e or says some women provoke it, when a friend is texting his girlfriend 50 days a day to hassle her about her clothes or her friends, when you realise that a woman you know is living with abuse.” – Professor Michael Flood, QUT (Queensland University of Technology) School of Justice

Professor Michael Flood’s research focuses on gender, sexuality, and interpersonal violence. His research is currently focused on interpersonal violence and its prevention, and in particular on engaging men in violence prevention, and on men, masculinities, and gender justice. He has published widely on topics including violence against women and violence prevention, men and masculinities, profeminist men’s advocacy, male heterosexuality, fathering, and po*******hy. He has made a significant contribution to scholarly and community understanding of men’s and boys’ involvements in preventing violence against women and building gender equality.
