Ashbourne Tidy Towns
Voluntary Group Keeping Ashbourne Tidy We try to achieve this is a number of ways:
1. Entering Ashbourne in the annual Tidy Towns Competition. etc.
We are a voluntary group with a single objective: to keep our town and the surrounding area clean, tidy and a pleasant place to live. Pride of Place judging takes place on Thursday 30th July. It’s really our busiest time of the year! Can you spare an hour for your community? We need all the help we can get! 😀🌳🐝🌼
This week we’re are asking everyone to help keep our town clean! If it’s picking up litter, businesses doing that extra bit tidying outside their premises or helping to tidy up areas that we all use like the playground, skate park, your daily walking routes. All help is appreciated 🥰

We’ve had some, let’s say, interesting graffiti being put in various places over the past few month by mindless idiots.
Happy to see our local Artist Jonathan Byrne getting the mural at the amphitheatre in the Frederick Bourne park (playground) back to its former glory. It’s there almost 6 years and wasn’t touched until last November.
Our battle against this kind of vandalism continues! 🌳🐝🥰

Our volunteers do brilliant selfless work that help to make Ashbourne a better place to live in. They work tirelessly week in, week out. Our main man Aaron does his Sunday morning litter pick every week without fail and is a great asset to our team. Well done Aaron! 🥰🌼🌳🚮

With the addition of some new council bins in areas around Ashbourne. We’ve relocated the dog foul bin in Ashewood to Deerpark.
Deerpark is looking fantastic thanks to our volunteers in the area. Dog bag dispenser is located at the entrance to Deerpark at the Aldi side with a council bin located there also.
So there’s zero excuse for dog fouling in this area 😀💩🐶🐾🌳🐝

Killegland Graveyard
For the history, cultural and heritage buffs amongst us, Ashbourne Tidy Towns and our friends in the Ashbourne Historical Society have just finished a beautiful collaborative restoration project with the old gate into the graveyard.
The gate was rusted and had a piece missing. It was really becoming corroded and we were worried about the future integrity of this lovely feature.
We employed the services of a company that restored the old RIC gates that are now on display in the from of Ashbourne Garda station to come to the rescue.
Killegland graveyard dates back to 1200AD and we will be commemorating the 300th year of the death of Dr. Michael Plunkett who is buried on the site in Aug. 2027.
See our before and after pics.
