NITA Prepares Assessors for August 2026 National Trade Test Series
More than 21,800 candidates are set to undertake the August 2026 National Trade Test Series after the Authority yesterday briefed assessors ahead of the nationwide assessment exercise.
The briefing was aimed at equipping assessment personnel with the guidelines, standards and procedures required to deliver a fair, transparent and credible assessment process. It also reinforced their roles in safeguarding the integrity of the Government Trade Test certification system and ensuring that every candidate is assessed solely on demonstrated competence.
The assessment personnel were urged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, fairness and integrity, emphasizing that Government Trade Test certificates remain a trusted measure of occupational competence.
The exercise, scheduled for 10–22 August 2026, will see 21,801 candidates assessed in 46 trades across 512 accredited assessment centres in all 47 counties, supported by 1,724 assessors.

The wait is finally over!
December 2025 Trade Test certificates are now out and will be delivered to assessment centres during the August 2026 Trade Test Series (10th–22nd August 2026).
Candidates are advised to collect their certificates from their respective assessment centres during the August series.

NITA Athi River Crowned KETISA National Champions
NITA Athi River are the new Kenya Technical Institutions Sports Association (KETISA) National Champions after emerging overall winners at the Second Term National Games, bringing NITA Nairobi's reign as champions to an end.
The three-day championships, which concluded on Monday 2nd August 2026 at the Railway Training Institute (RTI) Kisumu Campus, brought together 16 technical institutions to compete in football, volleyball, basketball and netball games.
NITA centres delivered an impressive performance, with Athi River taking the overall title, Kisumu finishing fifth, Nairobi eighth and Mombasa eleventh.
Athi River won the women's basketball title, while NITA Nairobi retained the men's volleyball title. Hosts NITA Kisumu recorded third-place finishes in both men's volleyball and women's netball.
Closing the championships, Railway Training Institute Board of Governors Chairperson Ms. Mercy Cherongis applauded participants for their discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship, while KETISA Chairperson Ms. Millicent Otom reaffirmed the Association's commitment to using sport to strengthen collaboration and interaction among trainees.
The event concluded with a tree-planting exercise, reflecting KETISA's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability.

NITA Officially Welcomes Newly Appointed NITB Chairperson
The Director General, Dr. Rukia Atikiya , today led a section of the NITA Management team in officially welcoming the newly appointed Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board (NITB), Sen. David Musila, MGH, to the Authority's headquarters in Nairobi.
During the meeting, the Chairperson was briefed on NITA's mandate, strategic priorities, key programmes and ongoing initiatives aimed at advancing skills development and industrial training in Kenya.
He was also presented with key institutional documents to facilitate a smooth onboarding and provide an overview of the Authority's operations.
Sen. Musila expressed his appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and reaffirmed his commitment to providing strategic leadership that will strengthen the Authority's impact.
He pledged to work closely with the Board, Management and stakeholders to steer NITA to greater heights in delivering its mandate.

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) today officially welcomed its newly appointed Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board, Hon. David Musila, MGH, during a Board meeting that marked the beginning of a new chapter in the Authority's leadership.
The Chairperson was formally introduced to the Board by the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Alfred Mutua, and hosted by , NITA Director General Dr. Rukia Atikiya, a Director of Industrial Training Jane Kamau, Director of Corporate Services Gerald Kirimi, Director of Legal Services Fridah Ng'alu, together with other members of the management team.
As NITA embarks on this new leadership journey, the Authority looks forward to working closely with Hon. Musila and the Board in advancing its mandate of equipping Kenyans with industry-relevant skills that drive national productivity and economic transformation.
