TODAY we are crushing on Environmentalists. Our crush this week is Katleho Mpopo (25), an Environmental Steward of note and Facilitator of the Farmers’ trainings.
Miss Mpopo is a Sustainability Enthusiast and Organic Farmer. She is the founder of Peace Farm, an organic farm based in Teyateyaneng, Berea. It focuses on solving global and local issues like food insecurity, climate change, malnutrition, and environmental degradation through the demonstration of simple and affordable climate smart and environmentally friendly techniques that can be practiced even by the poorest of the poor.
Her deep-rooted desire to fight malnutrition and help develop a healthier nation has led her to dedicate her time to diversifying food in Lesotho, through growing of new things that are not grown in Lesotho but can survive and thrive under our climate and weather conditions.
Miss Mpopo will be engaging with our Farmers on the following topics:
1. Organic farming: organic fertilizer, organic pesticides, organic herbicides.
2. Soil profile: soil structure, soil testing.
3. Building healthy soil.
4. Soil erosion and preventions
5. Control of disease and pests
The next Farmers Training is on Thursday 11 August, in Mafeteng.
