We will be opening our doors to the first pupils in September 2023 close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Tarxien Temples. The main school campus, the Royal Naval Hospital in Mtarfa, opens in September 2024. The school is in a glorious location with stunning views across the Maltese landscape and to the ancient walled city of Mdina.

Exploring Surface Area & Diffusion - Year 10

Our Year 10 Biology scientists have been investigating gas exchange through lab activity! By placing pink phenolphthalein agar cubes in dilute acid, students gathered real-time data on how surface-area to volume ratio affects diffusion rates. They modelled how oxygen and carbon dioxide efficiently diffuse between our alveoli and the bloodstream. That’s proper science!

Our IGCSE students worked brilliantly in teams, sharpened their practical lab skills, and successfully linked their experimental data to human biology. 🧪✨

It was a pleasure to welcome colleagues from Haileybury UK to the Maltese sunshine today!

Tom Wade (pictured with Louise Salmond Smith), Duncan Spooner-Wells and Maghin Tamilarasan joined us at our new campus to see the school in action, meet colleagues and pupils, and explore how we can work together to take the next exciting steps in our development.

A particular focus of the visit was our evolving digital ecosystem. As we continue to grow, we are working closely with our colleagues in the UK to ensure that our technology, infrastructure and digital resources support the ambitious educational experience we want to provide for every pupil.

One of the great strengths of being part of the wider Haileybury family is the expertise, collaboration and shared commitment to excellence that comes with it. Establishing a school on a new campus is a considerable undertaking, and having access to this depth of knowledge and experience is enormously valuable.

Thank you to our visitors for their time, enthusiasm and practical support.

🚀 Big Ideas, Bright Futures!

Some of our enterprising Year 12 students are preparing to put their creativity, business skills and entrepreneurial spirit to the test as they take part in the Junior Achievement Company Programme!

Today marked the beginning of their journey with an introductory session, ahead of an exciting and challenging eight months in which they will discover what it really takes to turn a great idea into a successful business.

From innovation and teamwork to problem-solving, leadership and financial decision-making, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, grow and think outside the box.

We can’t wait to see what our entrepreneurs come up with! 💡

🏫✨ Come and see what all the excitement is about!

We've been rather busy showing families around Haileybury Malta recently, with a wonderful number of parent tours taking place as families explore joining us in January or Easter 2027.

And we have to admit, we're really enjoying showing off our new home!

There's so much to see. From our state-of-the-art science laboratories and bright, spacious, air-conditioned classrooms to our lovely shady, wooded outdoor areas where pupils can play, relax and enjoy some fresh air. And then, of course, there's lunch! 🍽️ Our fantastic catering team at Thomas Franks provides delicious meals that are a real highlight of the school day.

But a school is about far more than its buildings, and we're particularly proud of everything that happens beyond the classroom.

🏉 Sport and adventure? Rugby, basketball, hockey, volleyball, climbing, golf, football, netball, running, yoga and more - including opportunities with Juventus Academy Malta!

🎭 Feeling creative? Jazz band, art, creative writing, dance, film, digital art, jewellery making, comics and even a school magazine.

🔬 Curious minds? STEM, coding, chess, Lego, history, Spanish, mathematics, Model United Nations and plenty of other opportunities to explore new interests.

🌍 Ready to lead? Student Council, Junior Enterprise and the Bronze, Silver and Gold The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Malta programmes all offer opportunities to develop confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility.

And that's just a selection from our extraordinary programme of co-curricular activities!

Of course, the best part of any tour isn't the facilities or even the long list of activities. It's seeing the school in action: meeting our teachers, watching pupils learning, and getting a feel for the happy, busy and ambitious community we're building together.

We're still a young school, and we're growing and developing all the time. That's part of what makes this such an exciting place to be. Every new family brings something special to our community, and we're looking forward to welcoming many more.

If you're considering a school move for January or Easter 2027, we'd love to welcome you for a tour. It's a chance to explore our campus, meet some of the people who make Haileybury Malta such a special place, ask all your questions and, most importantly, get a real feel for life at our school.

Last night, we were delighted to welcome our Year 10 and 11 pupils and their families to Haileybury Malta for our Cambridge IGCSE Information Evening.

Led by our Deputy Head, Shaun O’Keeffe, the evening offered an opportunity to explore the exciting academic journey ahead, from subject choices and assessment to developing the skills, confidence and study habits that will help our pupils thrive.

We also looked beyond IGCSEs from our extensive after-school provision to the opportunities awaiting our pupils as they progress towards the IB Diploma Programme and the next chapter of their education.

A huge thank you to all the parents and pupils who joined us, asked thoughtful questions and contributed to such a positive evening. At Haileybury Malta, education is a partnership, and evenings like this remind us just how valuable that partnership is.

Big ambitions. Bright futures. Proud to be Haileyburian. ❤️

The Head’s walkabout this week revealed the school to be in excellent working order.

The smallest Haileyburians were busy exploring their artistic talents 🎨 and discovering the science of vibration by watching a guitar string being plucked 🎸; the medium-sized variety were applying themselves admirably to English and Maths; while the largest specimens were deep in a Theory of Knowledge discussion on optimism, pessimism and realism, which seems a fairly comprehensive preparation for adult life.

And all of this was happening simultaneously, under one newly repaired roof (now sporting rather more solar panels than seems entirely reasonable).

From paintbrushes and plucked strings to Pythagoras* and philosophy, there is something rather wonderful about seeing an all-through school going about its business.

*Other mathematical concepts are available.

Who says learning has to stay in the classroom? 🌿🔢👀👂

Year 1 have been learning with their hands, eyes, ears - and even their noses - this week!

In Maths, they’ve been getting to grips with numbers to 10, using practical resources to build, count, compare and explore. There’s nothing quite like being able to see and touch the maths to help those important early concepts click into place. 🧮

Then it was time to head outside for Science! 🔍 Our beautiful campus became one big outdoor classroom as the children went on a five senses adventure, spotting things they might normally walk past, listening carefully to the sounds around them, discovering different smells and investigating all sorts of textures.

Learning is everywhere when you know how to look for it! 💚
