People across the planet are preparing to make the same sound at exactly the same moment this Sunday as World Clap Day gets ready for its first global event.
The idea is incredibly simple: wherever you are in the world, clap your hands for one second at the exact same time, before the moment turns into a round of applause celebrating humanity.
For Malta, that moment will come at 3pm on Sunday, 16th August. The synchronised clap takes place at 2pm in the UK and 10am in New York.
And this is quickly becoming much bigger than a small social media idea.
According to the World Clap Day website, more than 1.9 million people worldwide have now joined the mission, with the number continuing to climb ahead of Sunday’s event.
Founded by Andrea Bechis, World Clap Day describes itself as a non-political and non-religious movement, with no agenda beyond creating a single shared moment between people of different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
The organisers hope that after the single synchronised clap, people will continue with a round of applause, turning one second of worldwide coordination into a celebration of humanity.
Will you be joining nearly two million people for the global clap?
