🎉 Meet Fiji — our brave little Gozo warrior is doing amazingly well! 🐾❤️

This sweet dachshund named Fiji had a serious road traffic accident that caused tears to the serratus ventralis muscle (see image below) on both sides leading to a complete detachment of both shoulder blades from the thorax causing enoormous pain and discomfort.

His family brought him all the way from Gozo to Pets Veterinary Clinic in Żabbar, Malta, where Dr. Kevin Camilleri performed surgery on both front legs to repair the muscle tears using implants.

From surgery… to this happy, energetic boy just weeks later!

🐶❤️ What a joy to see our big boy Duke back on his paws!

This handsome 48kg Labrador came to us after a cruciate ligament injury that had really affected his quality of life.

His worried parents, Melanie and Ramon, trusted us with their precious boy, and Dr. Kevin performed a TPLO surgery on his right knee.

Six months later, Duke has made a full recovery and is happily trotting along the coast road in Sliema with his proud parents! 🏖️🐾

We’re so grateful to Melanie and Ramon for trusting us, and to our incredible team at Pets Clinic Zabbar who helped Duke return to a happy, active life.

Great news — Kenzo is healing beautifully! 🐱💙

Our sweet boy Kenzo came in today for his 6-week post-op X-rays, and Dr. Kevin was happy to report that everything looks excellent!

The surgical implants are perfectly positioned and his leg is healing strong and stable.

Kenzo has been such a brave and cuddly patient. We’re so relieved and grateful.

Billy is doing GREAT! 🐶✨

Billy came in today for his 2-month post-TPLO recheck after surgery for a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture — and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

His leg is in excellent shape, and he has been cleared to return to a normal, active life. Watching these tough pups bounce back is the best part of what we do.

Pets Veterinary Clinic (Żabbar) – Malta’s only dedicated Orthopaedic Speciality Veterinary Clinic – is currently facing an immediate staffing challenge.

We are seeking a skilled full-time Veterinary Nurse to join the team led by Dr Kevin Camilleri.

Due to the recent resignation of our senior nurse, we risk having to reduce services or temporarily suspend operations unless we secure the right candidate promptly.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in Malta’s premier orthopaedic veterinary practice, with exposure to advanced surgical cases including complex fracture repairs, joint procedures, and specialist orthopaedic care not available in general practice clinics.

**Fred’s Limb Salvage Story** 🐾❤️

Meet Fred, a gentle 44 kg Labrador who suffered a devastating injury to his right wrist. The damage to the supporting structure (palmar fibrocartilage) is unfortunately irreparable in dogs and will cause the wrist to collapse (hyperextend) with each and every step.

Without intervention, Fred would have been left unable to bear weight on the limb, facing a future of severe osteoarthritis and chronic pain that would have dramatically affected his quality of life.

The only option to save his limb and give him a good quality of life was a **pancarpal arthrodesis** — a specialised limb-salvage surgery that fuses the joints in the wrist.

During the procedure, the joint was opened, the damaged cartilage removed and replaced with bone graft to encourage fusion. Due to his size and energy, Dr. Kevin applied 2 plates in opposite directions to stabilise the area while the bones healed together. It’s a very complex surgery, but it offered Fred the best chance for pain-free function.

Fred was closely monitored for the next 8 weeks, and we are delighted to report that the surgery was **100% successful**!

He has regained almost complete use of his limb and is now moving comfortably again.
