Work to bring the Avondale Spider back is progressing🕷️
The current focus is securing landowner approval, which sits with Auckland Council. This process requires a number of technical reports, including arborist and engineering assessments.
To move this forward, the Avondale Business Association has engaged local sculpture expert contractors ObjektCare to manage the approval process. They are actively coordinating the work, engaging the necessary experts, and progressing the required reports to support the application.
Once landowner approval is secured, the project will move into the next stage: fundraising.

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975): Friday 15 May 8pm - Rocky Horror “the longest running movie in history” became a sanctuary for people who saw themselves as outsiders, especially q***r and gender-nonconforming people. It now unites everyone. No longer mere movie-goers, they became a tribe and kept coming back, week after week.
Jan Grefstad made The Hollywood Rocky Horror’s rightful NZ home, the first to screen it as a midnight movie that ran from 1978 to 1988. Get dressed up and ready to dance, but please leave the rice at home!
COME EARLY! Doors 7pm, pre-show 7:30pm 🎟️ 🔗 https://bit.ly/hwROCKYHORRORmay26?r=lp&m=Mn8d4ZlaKBR

Nice to see Avondale Community Patrol and Police out and about on the street.
That visible presence matters. It builds confidence, reassures businesses and locals.
This is part of the Avondale Business Association’s ongoing plan to better coordinate and advocate for safety organisations and resources into our area.
Creating a safer environment is more than just responding to issues, it’s about creating a consistent, visible presence that helps prevent them in the first place.
