🌿 Eco-School Camp – Phase Two Begins! 🌿

We kick off the second phase of the Eco-School Camp this week with the arrival of our young Eco-School participants on Silhouette Island today! 🌴🌊

Over the next three days, the students will take part in a range of hands-on environmental and ecological conservation activities, giving them the opportunity to learn directly from nature, explore the island’s unique ecosystems, and strengthen their understanding of the importance of protecting our natural environment. 🌱🐢🌊

Their journey begins with their arrival and orientation — setting the stage for three exciting days of discovery, learning and conservation in action.

Stay tuned as we follow their Eco-School Camp experience on Silhouette Island! 💚

🌍 Clean Up the World Campaign 2026 🌿

This year, IDC took a different approach to marking the Clean Up the World Campaign.

Rather than focusing solely on a traditional clean-up activity, we mobilised staff from across different departments to come together and give the boundary wall surrounding our Head Office, Maison Mazaren at Île du Port, a fresh new look through a collective painting exercise.

The initiative brought colleagues together with a shared purpose — improving our workplace surroundings while promoting teamwork, responsibility and pride in the environment around us.

Clean Up the World is not only about removing waste; it is also about taking positive action to care for, improve and maintain the spaces in which we live and work.

A big thank you to all IDC staff who contributed their time and effort to making the activity a success. 💚

🥾🌿 Team Building Through Nature on Silhouette Island

Yesterday, Organised by the guest house supervisor, team members from IDC and the Island Conservation Society (ICS) based on Silhouette Island came together for an adventurous team-building hike from La Passe to Grand Barbe and back.

Along the way, the team explored Silhouette’s rich natural environment, encountering diverse flora and fauna, spectacular landscapes and breathtaking views that highlight the island’s remarkable natural beauty.

Upon reaching Grand Barbe, the group also had the opportunity to meet with Elvire and Abdullah, the sole residents of Grand Barbe, adding a special human connection to the day’s journey.

Beyond strengthening teamwork and camaraderie, the hike provided an opportunity for participants to reconnect with nature and appreciate the unique biodiversity, landscapes and communities that make Silhouette Island so special. 🌴🐢🌊

A memorable day of teamwork, exploration and appreciation for our islands!

Recently members of the Ramp Up, Rise Up Association, including Mr. Jason Winslow and Ms. Alesha Seraphine, met with the GICC construction team, to seek support for the construction of a wheelchair-accessible ramp at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS).

Recognising the importance of creating more inclusive and accessible public spaces, GICC pledged its full support and financial commitment towards the project.

Last week, that commitment became a reality with the official handover of the newly constructed wheelchair-accessible ramp to the Ramp Up, Rise Up Association.

The project represents an important step towards improving accessibility and ensuring that persons with reduced mobility can access public facilities with greater ease, dignity and independence.

GICC and its parent company IDC remain committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of Seychelles, while improving the wellbeing, inclusion and quality of life of its people.

Together, we continue to build a more accessible and inclusive Seychelles for all.

A young visitor on the shores of Desroches Island! 🌊🐦

This juvenile Masked B***y (Sula dactylatra), known in Creole as Fou Zenero, was spotted making its way along the beach of Desroches Island.

Masked Bo***es are striking seabirds found across tropical oceans and are part of the rich marine and coastal biodiversity found around Seychelles’ outer islands.

🌿 Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders on Silhouette Island 🌿

Over three weeks, from 11th–27th August, IDC, together with its partners Island Conservation Society (ICS) and NIVA Labriz, welcomed groups of Eco-School leaders to Silhouette Island for a series of hands-on environmental training camps.

Each week, participants had the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience conservation in action—learning about wildlife conservation, biodiversity, ecosystem protection, and the various conservation practices being implemented across Silhouette Island.

Through practical activities and direct exposure to the island’s unique natural environment, the programme aimed to strengthen environmental knowledge, encourage leadership, and inspire young people to become active ambassadors for conservation.

📸 Here are some highlights from the three weeks of learning, discovery and hands-on conservation on Silhouette Island.

Together, we continue to inspire a generation that understands, values and protects Seychelles’ natural heritage. 🌱🇸🇨
