🏆 Lund University alumnus Eli Tausen á Lava has been nominated for the prestigious Nordic Council Music Prize, one of the Nordic region’s most distinguished music awards, for his work Let Me Cry.

What does it mean to create something new when the entire history of music is at your fingertips? 🎼

Born in the Faroe Islands and educated at Lund University’s Malmö Academy of Music, Eli has earned recognition for Let Me Cry, a work inspired by Handel’s famous aria Lascia ch’io pianga. Through 16 voices, he transforms a familiar musical masterpiece into something entirely his own.

✨ At just 29, Eli’s creative journey has taken him from teaching himself piano as a teenager to receiving a nomination for one of the Nordic region’s most distinguished music awards.

But his story is about more than recognition. It’s about creativity, reinvention, and finding new paths through music’s rich history.

Read the full story and listen to his music via the link in the bio.

📱💡 What if choosing a health centre was based on data, not guesswork?

LTH alumnus Arvid Pilhall turned open public data into Vårdbetyg, a platform that helps patients compare health centres across Sweden. 🩺📊

In a guest post on the Alumni Network blog, he shares the story behind the app, from idea to launch, and why transparency and open data matter when making healthcare choices.

Today, Vårdbetyg covers more than 1,100 health centres and attracts around 20,000 visits each month. 🚀

🎉 Lund alumna awarded the “Genius Grant”

Big congratulations to Holly Jean Buck (MSc, Lund University, 2011), who has been named a recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, often informally known as the “genius grant”!

The fellowship comes with a no-strings-attached $800,000 award, giving recipients the freedom to pursue their work wherever it may lead.

A sociologist and energy policy researcher, Holly explores the social, ethical and political dimensions of climate and energy policy, as well as emerging technologies. The MacArthur Foundation recognised her exceptional creativity and potential for future contributions, placing her among a select group of researchers, artists and thinkers honoured each year.

We are proud to see a Lund alumna making a global impact through her work on some of the most pressing climate and energy challenges of our time.

Our warmest congratulations, Holly! 🎉
