🤝 Building Stronger Communities Through Collaboration 🇸🇱

We are excited to announce a new partnership between Aion Health SL and Action For Community Resilience Group - ACRG through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Technical Cooperation and Knowledge Sharing.

The MoU was signed by Abubakarr Sidique Konneh, representing Aion Health SL, and Allieu Christopher Moiwa, representing ACRG.

This partnership brings together two youth-led nonprofit organizations in Sierra Leone with a shared commitment to community development, knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and creating sustainable solutions that respond to the needs of local communities.

For us, this is more than a document—it is a commitment to learn from one another, share expertise, strengthen our work, and create greater impact together.

🌍 PROJECT COMPLETED! | LOWUMA VILLAGE, BO DISTRICT 💧☀️🏥

We are proud to announce the successful completion of a community-led solar-powered water and health-support project in Lowuma Village, Bo District, Sierra Leone.

This important intervention was made possible through funding from the German Embassy Freetown 🇩🇪🇸🇱 through its Microgrants Programme, supporting Aion Health SL’s efforts to improve access to safe water, electricity, and essential health services in underserved communities.

☀️ What has been achieved?

💧 Solar-powered borehole and water supply system
🏥 Improved water and electricity access for the health centre
🚰 Water supply to the labour room
🔋 Charging station to support maintenance and sustainability
💧 Two community water points serving local residents
👩🏾‍🍼 Support for improved maternal and community health services

The success of this project reflects what is possible when communities, government, development partners, and local organizations work together toward a common goal.

On International Youth Day, Aion Health SL, alongside Abubakarr Sidique Konneh's role as a consultant with Action for Community Resilience Group (ACRG), participated in the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Sierra Leone in Bo City, co-hosted by youth-led groups.

The engagement provided a platform for young people to share perspectives and solutions on climate adaptation, resilience, and climate and health. Climate change directly affects health through extreme heat, flooding, water contamination, food insecurity, and climate-sensitive diseases.

As young people, we must continue to advocate for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities and ensure youth voices are reflected in Sierra Leone’s climate action agenda.

🕊️ **Women as Peacebuilders: From Skills to Peace in Sierra Leone** 🕊️

Zainab Sankoh, UNFPA Young Women Leader and Team Lead of the Digitalher Health and Entrepreneurship Hub invited by UNFPA Sierra Leone, recently represented Aion Health SL at the UN Peacebuilding Event in Sierra Leone. The high-level gathering brought together leaders and practitioners committed to addressing the root causes of conflict and strengthening sustainable peace.

The event highlighted the critical role of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, which has supported conflict prevention and peacebuilding initiatives in Sierra Leone for over two decades. A key focus of the discussions was the understanding that peace is not only built in formal institutions, but also within homes and communities.

A central message shared by Zainab was that economic empowerment through digital and vocational skills plays a vital role in reducing household conflict and promoting peace at the community level. Through the Digitalher Hub, young women have been equipped with practical skills that have enabled them to become financially independent and meet their basic needs without reliance or financial disputes within their households.

This growing economic independence has contributed to stronger family relationships and more stable, peaceful communities. As reflected in her experience, when women are empowered economically, they strengthen not only themselves but also their households and society at large.

Aion Health SL proudly recognizes Zainab Sankoh’s leadership and her continued commitment to empowering young women to learn, earn, and lead toward lasting peace.

AION HEALTH SL, represented by Abubakarr Sidique Konneh, participated in the Community Solvathon in Bo City, organized by Felei TechCity in partnership with the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project and the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation.

The program brought together innovators to work on real community challenges through structured training in problem identification, solution design, and scalable business development.

With all Teams funded, we are proud to share that Abubakarr Sidique Konneh learnt and Aion Health SL partnered and solved burdening community challenges through the Solvathon 🎉

This achievement reflects our commitment to innovation and building practical, community-driven health solutions that create lasting impact.

With support from Youth Exchange and Study (YES) GYSD, we continue providing vital healthcare services to hard-to-reach communities, especially for pregnant women, through our Mobile Health Clinic. Alongside healthcare, we also deliver digital literacy education to empower women and communities with the skills needed for a better future. These services are essential because they save lives, break barriers, and open new opportunities. Our work contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10). Together, we are ensuring no woman or child is left behind.

Through programs like EmpowerHER with Tech and DigitalHer Health & Entrepreneurship, we have equipped women and youth with practical skills in technology, health, and entrepreneurship.
