The fix is different for each, which is why cookie-cutter training rarely works for reactive dogs.

At Project K9, we assess first. We figure out what's driving the behavior before we ever correct it. Then we build a plan that actually addresses the root cause.

Reactivity doesn't have to be your dog's forever story.

Drop "REACTIVE" in the comments if this sounds like your dog β€” we'll reach out with next steps.

The work you put in today compounds.

One training session doesn't transform a dog. But one session leads to another, and another, and before long you have a different animal β€” and a different relationship.

That's true in dog training. In faith. In business. In marriage.

Show up. Do the work. Trust the process.

If you've been putting off getting help with your dog β€” this is your week. Take the first step. One call. One session. That's how it starts.

We're here when you're ready.

Did you know most dog behavior problems start forming before age 2?

This is why early training matters SO much. But here's the good news β€” it's never too late.

We've worked with dogs that were 7, 8, even 10 years old and helped them change behaviors their owners thought were permanent.

The brain stays plastic. The dog can learn. They just need the right approach.

At Project K9 we don't give up on dogs. We don't give up on families.

Is your dog young and you want to start things right? Or older with habits that need breaking? Either way β€” we've got you. πŸ“ž 337-422-7999

The #1 question we get asked at Project K9

"How long will it take to train my dog?"

( #2 question is Do you train kids and spouses too? No we dont lol)

Here's the honest answer: it depends on the dog AND the owner. Most dogs start showing real improvement within the first 2–3 sessions.

A solid foundation takes 4–8 weeks of consistent work.

But here's what most trainers won't tell you β€” the dog is rarely the slow part. The owner's consistency at home is what determines how fast and how lasting the results are.

That's why at Project K9, we train YOU too.

We give you the tools, the language, and the confidence to keep it going long after our sessions end. That's what the lifetime support guarantee is all about.

Sunday thought

Patience is a practice.

I've learned more about patience from training dogs than almost anything else in life. You can't rush a dog that isn't ready. You can't force a breakthrough. You have to earn trust β€” one repetition at a time.

Everytime I train I see Gods hand in it with obedience, submission, and trust. How many times have we been the dog in the relationship with God and finally at the end we realized his plan and direction was better than our own.

Sounds a lot like life, doesn't it?

Whether it's a dog that won't listen or a situation that won't budge β€” keep showing up. Keep doing the work. The breakthrough is coming.

3 things every dog owner should stop doing TODAY

1 Repeating commands your dog ignores
If you say "sit" 5 times and they don't sit β€” you just taught them "sit" means nothing. Say it once. Then make it happen.

2 Comforting anxiety
When your dog is scared and you pet them and say "it's okay" β€” you're reinforcing the fear. Stay calm and neutral instead.

3 Free feeding
Feeding your dog on demand removes one of your most powerful training tools. Feed on a schedule. Make them earn it.

Save this post β€” these three shifts alone will change your relationship with your dog.

This is so interesting Go read this article

A groundbreaking study from Sweden’s LinkΓΆping University has confirmed what dog lovers have long suspected: the bond between dogs and humans is deeply biological. The key? Oxytocin β€” the hormone responsible for love and trust.

As wolves evolved into domesticated companions over thousands of years, dogs became genetically tuned to this hormone. Those with specific oxytocin receptor variants are more likely to seek human help, show affection, and thrive in modern environments.

But today, scientists say we’re entering a third wave of domestication β€” one shaped not by survival or status, but by empathy and adaptability.

Modern service dogs are at the forefront of this transformation. Unlike their ancestors bred for guarding or herding, these dogs are biologically and behaviorally wired to be calm, social, and deeply attuned to humans β€” even from puppyhood.

This new evolution is reshaping canine genetics in real time. As our cities grow and lifestyles change, so too must our dogs β€” not just in behavior, but in biology.

➑️ The future of dogs isn’t just about how they look. It’s about how they feel.
