Soooo….yeahhhhhh….not the post we were hoping to make on this Sunday evening. But, such is life and all this is still very much out of our control. Any job worth doing is worth doing right and next timeline is waiting for new kitchen tile to cure so we can put our big heavy stuff on it and it can last for years to come. No rushing greatness, so we appreciate your patience and sure hope you’re not forgetting about us. 😉We promise to be back better than ever after this unexpectedly long break and we look forward to seeing ALL of you and your friends and their friends on November 2nd!! Gulp. Well; please know this is not by choice and we’re not happy about it either. We have some long needed building repairs that are finally getting addressed and we will be closed for what we hope we will be a week but could be longer. We tried to coordinate this with other breaks we took over the year, but this was out of our control. We know, we know….this means missing our friendly faces and drinking second or third rate coffee (stock up on beans today if you can! ). Shameless plug - this kind of thing really hurts a small business (this is a really busy time of year for us!) and we truly hope to see everyone as soon as we reopen. Tell your friends.

Good morning! Here to tell you whipped cream isn’t just for hot cocoa! I’m a black coffee kind of girl and our coffee from Fieldstone Coffee Roasters Inc is by far the best around, but every once in a while, I need a little treat and the whipped cream does the trick. How do you take your coffee?

In free time we don’t have over here, we’re working on showing off our bagel chops with some new menu items. Stay tuned for them to show up on the wall, but this was my first - a slightly strange combo with which I fell in love while in college. We’re calling it the “you’re just jelly” and it’s a toasted hand rolled plain bagel with whipped cream cheese and grape jelly. Trust me and give it a try when it’s officially on the menu! We’ll post more of our ideas over the next week or two. What’s YOUR favorite unique way to top a bagel??

Y’all are loving our high protein chicken salad bowls! This week we have a street corn style with corn and poblano peppers with a creamy Greek yogurt lime and cotija cheese with cilantro.

Happy fall weather! This pic has little to nothing to do with the rambling that today elicited, but it’s a pretty and delicious coffee drink, so even if you roll your eyes at the impending sentimentality, you have a pumpkin mocha to take your mind off it.
As my morning friends know, I’ve been rocking the opening shift solo for a while now and I truly enjoy it. Even when I was climbing the proverbial corporate ladder more than a decade ago, I’d still describe my favorite job as barista way back in the day.
Today reminded me why. From when I opened the doors at 7:02 (I was putting that first batch of gluten free muffins in and lost track of my morning for two minutes), there was a steady line of people looking for their morning drinks and breakfasts. This could have stressed me out, and the constant flow of customers probably could have become frustrated. Instead, I spent the morning with nearly all regulars laughing and swapping stories, bouncing from register to the line up of steaming pitchers and shots pulling and pots brewing behind me. This morning in particular, I knew almost every order for what seemed like almost an hour of consistent flow. I’m not the best with names, but this morning I was kind of on my game. I’m sharing this because it felt GREAT. Our customers have become friends and we hope visa versa. This morning is why I started this crazy idea and I am so humbly grateful for all of you who trust us with your early mornings and who sometimes have to exercise a little extra patience. We don’t take for granted that you have other choices and you still choose us (although, really - our coffee and breakfast sandwiches are really unmatched, so…..🤷‍♀️). So, thank you for the genuine support, the early morning thoughtful banter (I’m looking at you, Mike), and for including us in your day, whether it’s at 7:02 or 2:57 (Alison, I couldn’t resist).
