Before you start contacting wedding vendors, have these 3 things ready. 👇

1. Your wedding date
This is usually the first thing a vendor needs to know. Before you get too far into pricing, packages or details, they need to know if they’re available for your date.

2. Your city or venue
Already have your wedding venue booked? Include it. Still searching? That’s okay too. Let vendors know the city or general area you’re considering so they can account for travel and logistics.

3. Your approximate guest count
It doesn’t have to be final. Even a realistic estimate can help vendors give you more accurate information about pricing, staffing, quantities and what your wedding may require.

You don’t need to have every detail figured out before you start reaching out. But giving wedding vendors these three basics from the beginning can save a lot of back-and-forth and make those first conversations much more productive.

Save this for when you’re ready to start building your wedding team. 🤍

We asked about this in our Stories recently, and most brides who answered didn’t realize just how much wedding dress alterations can cost.

And it’s an expense that’s easy to overlook when you’re setting your dress budget.

Standard wedding dress alterations can average around a few hundred to $1,000+, depending on the gown and what needs to be done. More intricate gowns or extensive alterations can cost even more.

So when you decide what you’re comfortable spending on your wedding dress, don’t make that number your entire dress budget. Leave room for alterations from the beginning.

One more question worth asking while you’re shopping: Are alterations included in the price of the gown, and if not, what should I expect to budget?

Save this one for when you start wedding dress shopping. 🤍

Kinda chic to actually meet the people you’re trusting with your wedding.

There’s only so much you can learn from a website, an Instagram feed, Pinterest or a Facebook group.

At the Baton Rouge Bridal Show, you can meet local wedding professionals face to face, ask your questions, see their work in person and figure out who you actually click with.

Because sometimes the best way to make progress on your wedding plans is to stop scrolling and experience your options for yourself.

FROM BEHIND THE SCENES

One of the biggest misconceptions in wedding planning is that choosing your bridal beauty team is all about finding the prettiest hair and makeup photos.

Beautiful work absolutely matters.

But after planning hundreds of weddings, I’ve learned that the best wedding mornings have something else in common…they feel calm.

Your hair and makeup team will spend hours with you before the ceremony. Their energy often becomes the energy of the room.

When you’re scheduling consultations or trial appointments, pay attention to more than the finished look.

Ask yourself:

• Did I feel comfortable?

• Did I feel heard?

• Would I genuinely enjoy spending my wedding morning with this team?

Those answers are just as important as the portfolio.

This is the first post in our “From Behind the Scenes” series, where we’ll be sharing real wedding insights, planning advice, and lessons learned from years of producing weddings and bridal shows (as N-joy Events).

If you’re planning a wedding in Baton Rouge or anywhere in Louisiana, save this post for later and share it with an engaged friend who might need this reminder.
