Trauma Therapist + DV Educator. Coercive control & narcissistic abuse expert. Featured on WPBF 25 🎥 Helping survivors reclaim themselves-
11/03/2026
A narcissist can expect your loyalty, emotional support, forgiveness, attention, and constant understanding while giving you little accountability or consideration in return.
They want you available when they need you, forgiving when they hurt you, and understanding when they refuse to change.
And when you finally have needs of your own? You're suddenly asking for too much.
That's the double standard that keeps so many survivors stuck, constantly trying to figure out what else they need to give to make the relationship work.
But you were never supposed to carry the entire relationship alone.
Want to understand why you became so attached to someone who kept changing the rules?
DM me or comment HOOKED, and I'll send you the link to my ebook.

Narcissistic abuse can leave you with reactions you don't even understand. You may be out of the relationship, but your body still responds as if you're walking on eggshells, waiting for the next argument, or bracing for the next blow.
You might know they're bad for you and still crave their attention. That's one of the most confusing parts of a trauma bond.
You didn't imagine the abuse, and you're not crazy for struggling with what came after it.
So why does your body still crave someone who hurt you?
That's exactly what I break down in my ebook HOOKED
DM or Comment HOOKED and I'll send you the link in your DMs.
They loved your confidence until you confidently said no.
Loved your independence until you made plans without them.
Loved your ambition until your career required time they felt entitled to.
That’s when “we’re exactly alike” starts becoming “you’ve changed.”
Shared interests can create attraction. They cannot establish whether someone is honest, accountable, or capable of respecting you when you disappoint them.
And mirroring isn’t automatically manipulation. People naturally pick up each other’s expressions, habits, and interests.
The concern is the pattern: their promises repeatedly contradict their behavior, and differences bring pressure, contempt, or punishment.
You don’t need to prove they consciously studied you.
You need to notice whether being yourself is still welcome when it stops being convenient.
**You don’t have to prove the beginning was fake before taking the present seriously.**
Comment **HOOKED** for my ebook on why the “perfect” beginning can keep you attached long after the relationship starts hurting you.

You may not consciously think, "I'm afraid of my partner." But if you're starting to learn to organize your life around preventing their reactions, that's something to watch out for.
It can look like rehearsing what you're going to say, checking their mood before you speak, hiding harmless things, or apologizing just to make the tension stop.
That's not peace. That's survival.
Comment HOOKED if you're trying to understand why you still feel so attached.
They knew your hypothetical children’s names before you knew how they handled accountability.
Of course it felt convincing. They were describing the life you wanted—with themselves already cast in the leading role.
Marriage. Loyalty. A family. Someone who would finally understand you.
But shared plans aren’t shared values until you see how someone behaves when those values cost them something.
Loyalty when there’s temptation.
Respect when you disagree.
Care when your needs are inconvenient.
Accountability when they’ve hurt you.
The beginning can become so powerful that you spend the rest of the relationship treating their promises as evidence—and their behavior as an exception.
Early enthusiasm doesn’t automatically mean manipulation. Pay attention to whether they respect your pace, welcome your independence, and consistently follow through.
You weren’t foolish for wanting that future.
You’re allowed to stop waiting for someone whose promises keep asking you to overlook the present.
Comment **HOOKED** for my ebook on the manipulation and attachment that can keep you chasing the person you thought you met.
Devaluation doesn't always look like obvious cruelty. Sometimes, it's the subtle put-downs, backhanded compliments, constant criticism, and small acts of disrespect that slowly chip away at your confidence.
A narcissist may make you feel less valued while expecting you to keep proving your worth.
You don't have to accept disrespect just because it's disguised as a joke, concern, or harmless comment.

Ever confronted a narcissist about their behavior, only to walk away feeling like you were the problem?
They may minimize the harm, shift the blame, play the victim, change the subject, use silence as punishment, or walk away when you demand accountability.
Over time, you can end up questioning yourself instead of addressing the harm they caused. Recognizing these patterns can help you understand what’s happening.
DM or comment HOOKED if you're trying to understand why it's been so hard to let go.
A narcissist may provoke you, push your boundaries, and wear you down until you finally react. Then they use your reaction against you to portray themselves as the victim and make you look like the problem.
They want everyone to focus on your reaction instead of the abuse that led up to it.

Some narcissistic behaviors seem random until you recognize the pattern. Starting arguments before important events, giving you the silent treatment, changing the rules, and making you question yourself can leave you confused and constantly second-guessing your reality.
These behaviors can be part of a pattern of manipulation that slowly changes how you see yourself and the relationship.
DM or comment HOOKED if you're trying to understand why it became so hard to leave.
Ever notice how an argument with a narcissist can go from discussing one issue to defending yourself against accusations, blame, and completely unrelated problems?
These behaviors can shift the focus away from their actions and leave you questioning yourself instead of addressing what happened.
Recognizing the pattern matters. An argument should not become a game of confusion and control.
