Our Vision is Clear:
A world free from plastic pollution, where the ocean thrives and future generations inherit a healthier planet.
As the nonprofit arm of the 4ocean brand, 4ocean Foundation powers large-scale cleanups worldwide, removing plastic from the ocean, restoring rivers and coastlines, and protecting marine life for generations to come. 4ocean Foundation is dedicated to ending plastic pollution by cleaning our ocean, rivers, and coastlines, tackling the growing threat of microplastics, and empowering communities through education and awareness. A Global Crisis Requires Global Solutions:
4ocean Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We ensure that all contributions are 100% tax-deductible in the U.S. and select countires, directly funding our mission to clean and preserve the marine environment. Our Foundation focuses exclusively on partnering with local captains and crews to clean plastic and trash from our ocean and creating educational campaigns that expand awareness.
4ocean Foundation was established as a separate entity from the 4ocean Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), our for-profit counterpart. This strategic move was made to expand our impact on ocean conservation by accessing diverse streams of capital and philanthropy. Why We Clean:
Our lives are deeply connected to the ocean, it is one of the most vital ecosystems on Earth. Covering more than 70% of the planet’s surface, the ocean generates a significant portion of the oxygen we breathe and sustains countless forms of life. It's where we work, unwind, connect with nature, and feel truly alive. Plastic pollution is a dual threat. Existing plastic is a significant threat to marine life and ecosystems however, when plastic photodegrades (breaks down) one plastic water bottle can turn into millions of pieces of microplastic. Microplastic pollution is exponentially threatening the health of every living being on our planet. Seeing our ocean, rivers, and coastlines polluted with plastic, wildlife struggling to survive, and communities losing their livelihoods - that’s what fuels our mission. We clean to protect the people and places we love. Not just for today, but for every generation to come. Please join us today but following and engaging with our social media channels and by making a donation of any size. Thank you for your support!

September was another powerful month for Bali's waterways. Foundation crews hauled 522,150 pounds of trash out of rivers and off beaches, stopping it before it could harm the marine life and ecosystems that depend on them. Over the course of 843 cleanups, crews pulled out the equivalent of 25 million plastic water bottles.
Some of September's most important work involved recovering ghost nets, the abandoned fishing gear that keeps drifting and trapping sea turtles, fish, and other animals long after it's been lost. Crews also tackled critical beach cleanups and kept up their efforts to keep rivers clear because catching trash in the rivers is one of the best ways to keep it out of the ocean entirely.
So far, 4ocean Foundation has removed 7,717,216 pounds of trash and plastic out of the ocean, a milestone made possible by our incredible community. Thank you to every ocean advocate whose support keeps this work going and helps protect the ocean and the planet we all share.
This cleanup was about more than clearing a shoreline, it was about caring for a place at the heart of the community.
Whatever the crew encountered, they took it on. From massive tangles of ghost nets to scattered pieces of single-use plastic, they worked their way down the coast, restoring a beach that means so much to so many.
This is where locals catch waves, where wildlife makes its home, and where the land meets an ocean that connects all of us around the world.
Help power the teams who give places like this a fresh start and keep coming back to protect them. Support their work at 4oceanFoundation.org
At Pulukan Beach, the tide carried in a heavier load than usual.
Ghost nets are fishing gear made of durable nylon that has been lost or abandoned at sea. As they drift, they snag other debris, growing larger and more tangled until the waves finally push them ashore. In the open ocean, these nets endanger dolphins, corals, sea turtles, and countless other marine animals. On land, the threat continues for shorebirds, crabs, and other coastal wildlife. Built to last, the nets never stop doing what they were made for: they keep on fishing.
The crew set to work gathering clumps of netting along the shoreline, clearing the beach for the wildlife that depends on it.
Not every cleanup brings in a massive haul. Sometimes it’s slow, patient work, one plastic bottle at a time.
For these crews, that work is deeply personal. They see the consequences of plastic pollution in the water, along the shoreline, and in the ecosystems their communities depend on. They’ve built their livelihoods around confronting it every day, helping protect the health of the ocean, wildlife, and the people who call these coastlines home.
Along Nyani Beach, the crew searched the sand and surrounding vegetation, collecting debris wherever it had scattered.
Piece by piece, they’re caring for their own coastline and helping create a healthier environment for every living being that depends on it.
On September 2nd, the river crew set out along the Ijo Gading river working to restore its flow.
Aboard a marine cleanup vessel, the team worked their way along the river, pulling out debris that high tide had swept in from surrounding areas. By the end of the day, they had removed almost 2,000 pounds of trash and plastic before it could reach the ocean.
Rivers carry waste quickly. A plastic bottle floating past today can be miles offshore tomorrow, out of reach and threatening marine wildlife and the ecosystems they depend on. Every pound removed from this river is a pound that never makes it to the ocean.

Rivers are at the heart of our mission, and here's why: More than 1,000 rivers account for 80% of the plastic that rivers carry into the ocean each year.
Rivers connect our communities to the ocean, and plastic and trash that enter these waterways can be carried downstream and eventually out to sea.
That's why these crews don't just work along the coast. They head inland to protect the rivers they rely on for swimming, growing their food, and natural flood protection. Between cleanups, the river booms stay hard at work, catching floating trash and holding it until crews can haul it out, all while letting the water flow freely.
Stopping trash at the source means cleaner rivers, healthier communities, and a healthier ocean. This World Rivers Day, show some love to the river closest to you and help keep it clean!

Within each cleanup crew is a group of dedicated members working to protect the ocean that connects us all.
No matter what challenges arise at a cleanup site, they gear up and get to work, knowing their efforts protect their local community and the planet.
Each face represents someone striving to leave a better planet for the next generation, someone who understands the importance of keeping our waterways clean. Because they know it's not just about removing waste, it's about giving back to the ecosystems and natural areas that give so much to us every day.

This International Coastal Cleanup Day, take impact into your own hands.
No matter where litter starts out, it usually finds its way to the ocean through storm drains, rivers, and streams. The shoreline is one of the last checkpoints before trash disappears into the sea, and once it's in the water, it becomes much more difficult to recover. From there, it can travel hundreds of miles, harming marine life and ecosystems far from where it started.
The good news? Every piece of litter removed is one less piece that makes that journey.
Today, take a moment to look after the places around you. Grab a bag, bring a friend, and clean up a beach, a park, a street, or even your own backyard.
So get out there, get your hands a little dirty, and be part of the solution. The ocean will thank you.
