Preserving the Promise™
It is our mission to protect the integrity of cells and provide trusted tools, services, and expertise that can enable our customers to advance the development and delivery of cell and gene therapies. Cell and gene therapies are designed to augment the patient’s ability to fight disease but only if the living cells behind those therapies remain viable and functional throughout the production processes. At BioLife Solutions, our mission is to protect the integrity of cells and provide trusted tools, services, and expertise that can enable our customers to advance the development and delivery of cell and gene therapies. We believe the future of cell and gene therapies hinges on the integrity of every single cell and we are here to preserve that promise. 🎙️ On Tuesday, November 10, in collaboration with Reg Med Net - the Regenerative Medicine Network, we’re leading a webinar on how controlling ice recrystallization can protect cryopreserved cell therapies from temperature-driven damage and preserve post-thaw quality and function.
🧊 You will hear from two cryobiology experts, Dr. Jason Acker and Dr. Robert Ben, who will share their experiences and promising evidence from working with small-molecule ice recrystallization inhibitors (IRIs).
If you’re looking to improve your cryopreservation processes and outcomes, please join us: https://www.regmednet.com/webinars/the-importance-of-ice-recrystallization-for-the-cryopreservation-of-cell-therapies/

Early this summer, we hosted the second annual Cell Summit event at the Cincinnati Zoo in collaboration with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
We’re proud to announce that a proceedings eBook called “Designing the Ecosystem for CGT Success” from The Cell Summit ’26 has published through Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN). 👏
☑️ This new eBook brings together perspectives from cell & gene therapy experts and leaders on key issues such as manufacturing scalability, supply chain logistics, CDMO partnerships, clinical delivery, reimbursement, and commercialization.
🤝 The eBook emphasizes that successful CGT adoption requires collaboration and coordination across the entire ecosystem, rather than improvements in individual processes alone. Overall, it highlights strategies and considerations for building an integrated, sustainable infrastructure that helps ensure these innovative therapies can reach patients effectively.

How can developers better manage visible particulate risk in cell therapies?
Traditional particulate inspection and rejection criteria can present unique challenges for autologous and small batch therapies, where rejecting a single product unit could mean losing a life-saving treatment opportunity.
🔷 The ISCT, International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy - Process Development & Manufacturing Committee is proposing a new framework called the Visible Particulate Risk Assessment Matrix (VPRAM). Dr. Sean Werner, our Chief Technology Officer, is a contributor.
🔷 This new framework offers a risk-based approach to evaluating and managing particulates by integrating particle characteristics, manufacturing controls, administration considerations, clinical urgency, and the feasibility of replacing a rejected lot.
🔷 By balancing patient safety, product quality, and the distinctive clinical and manufacturing realities of cell therapies, VPRAM aims to support more informed and scientifically backed decision-making while still maintaining regulatory compliance.

⚠️ Traditional cryobags can create real challenges for cell and gene therapy developers; from fractures and leaks to inspection challenges, complicated fill & finish workflows, storage limitations, and more.
We understand that changing established processes isn’t easy or quick. That’s why we developed the CellSeal® CryoCase - a rigid, cryogenic storage container designed specifically for CGTs, with improved inspectability, fracture resistance, and compatibility with closed-system processing.
🧠 Ready to rethink your cryostorage container approach?
We make the “case for CryoCase” in this slideshow:https://www.biolifesolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/BioLifeSolutions_Cryobag_vs_CryoCase_Carousel_020626.pdf

During routine handling, inventory management, testing and transportation, cryopreserved products can experience transient warming that promotes ice recrystallization, the growth of larger ice crystals at the expense of smaller ones. ❄️
This process can contribute to cellular damage and compromise post-thaw quality.
🎤 In an upcoming Reg Med Net - the Regenerative Medicine Network webinar on Tuesday, November 10, at 7am PT/10am ET/4pm CET, Dr. Jason Acker and Dr. Robert Ben will examine the science of ice formation and recrystallization, the impact of temperature excursions on cell stability, and emerging approaches to controlling ice-associated damage with ice recrystallization inhibitors (IRIs).
You will learn how IRIs:
☑️ Can strengthen cryopreservation processes
☑️ Work to limit ice crystal growth
☑️ Protect cells during transient warming events
☑️ Help preserve post-thaw cell quality, function, and more
