🚨 New “JD64” Rescue Truck Update! 🚨🚒

Today, a couple of our CVFD members held a pre-construction conference with Toyne Fire Apparatus for the “JD64” rescue truck as well as touring their facility in Breda, Iowa. This conference provided an opportunity to review our specs and ensure the truck will meet the needs of our department and the community we proudly serve.

We’re excited to continue moving forward with this project and look forward to sharing more updates as the process progresses!

Members of the Crete Volunteer Fire and Rescue had an extremely busy weekend. 🚒🚑

Over this past weekend, your dedicated volunteers have responded to a total of 21 calls for service. 15 of these were 911 medical responses, including 1 ALS-intercept request by a neighboring agency, 1 mutual aid brush fire, and 3 critical-care ALS inter-facility transports.

We are dedicated in continuing to provide high-quality care for the Crete community as well as the surrounding areas. We are always looking for more volunteers.

🚒 Train to Search. Train to Save Life. 🔥

This past Monday, our members participated in hands-on training focused on primary search, VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search), and thermal imaging operations.

Members practiced techniques for rapidly locating and removing occupants, communicating effectively, and safely conducting searches in challenging conditions. These skills are critical when seconds matter and firefighters must be prepared to make quick, informed decisions.

A big thank you to The Mom Walk for stopping by the fire station during Fire Prevention Week! We loved having all of the little ones visit, explore the fire trucks and learn about fire safety and what it’s like being a firefighter.

🚨Help Us Bring Jerome & Donna Kalkwarf’s Memorial Fire Truck Home!!!🚨🚒

The Kalkwarf family and CVFD are raising funds to purchase a new rescue truck in memory of Jerome and Donna Kalkwarf, honoring their lives and the lasting impact they had on their family, friends, and the Crete community.

The new rescue truck will be named “JD64” — Jerome & Donna, married in 1964. This truck will be 100% funded by grants and donations.

We are incredibly grateful to share that 86% of the funds needed have already been raised! ❤️
