Yeah i agree with this take from Main Jones

🟢⚫️🗣The Green Lantern fandom is locked in a massive debate surrounding Fantastic Frankey, co-host of the official DC Studios Showcase podcast, and the controversy has sharp arguments on both sides.

The tension started over discussions about HBO's Lanterns, specifically the friction between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Frankey ignited pushback when she argued online that Hal is "a bit of a racist" and later doubled down by claiming he is "canonically" racist based on classic comic issues.

From Frankey's perspective and those defending her, comics history is complicated, and classic runs like the Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams era intentionally framed Hal as an establishment figure with massive blind spots regarding race and systemic inequality. With the television series actively exploring generational and racial tension, defenders argue she was simply engaging with the show's deliberate creative themes and that online personalities frequently face bad-faith harassment when discussing sensitive topics.

On the flip side, longtime readers argue that having blind spots or being naive is completely different from being canonically racist, pointing out that Hal was written as a well-meaning hero learning to confront hard truths, not an active bigot. Critics also argue that as an official DC host, she carries a professional responsibility not to insult the audience, pointing to her social media replies where she mocked fans and told one person to go watch PAW Patrol. For many readers, having an official face on a DC platform mischaracterize beloved lore and alienate the core fanbase crosses the line.

Where do you land on this debate? Is she just examining real flaws in Hal's comic history, or should an official DC host treat legacy lore and the fanbase with more care?

And don't even get us started on the idea of outrunning an explosion right behind you.
