๐ŸŒฑ BIG NEWS for Meigs County Farmers & Landowners! ๐ŸŒฑ

Airbnb and the American Farmland Trust just announced a new Farm to Stay Grant Program designed to help farmers and ranchers create or expand farm stays and agritourism experiences as an additional source of income.

And we immediately thought of our home right here in Meigs County! โค๏ธ

Did you know Meigs County is home to 10 Century Farms, along with countless other family farms, smaller farms, hobby farms, homesteads, and rural properties?

If you have ever dreamed about turning part of your farm into a farm stay, hosting farm-to-table dinners, offering an agritourism experience, creating farm tours, or simply sharing your piece of Tennessee with visitors, this could be an opportunity worth exploring!

And before you think, โ€œMy farm is too smallโ€ฆโ€ think again! Whether you have a large family farm, a homestead, or even a small hobby farm, there may be an opportunity to create a unique experience. Iโ€™ve personally seen agritourism work on properties as small as one acre!

๐ŸŒพ Why Agritourism?

Tennesseeโ€™s agritourism industry is already making a significant economic impact. A recent study estimated that visitor spending at Tennessee agritourism farms generates about $65 million in direct spending and more than an estimated $118 million in total economic output for the state.

The new Farm to Stay Grant Program will provide approximately 25โ€“30 grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country.

๐Ÿ’ก Maybe youโ€™ve always wanted to:
๐Ÿก Turn a guest house, cabin, barn, or tiny home into a farm stay
๐Ÿ“ Offer seasonal farm experiences
๐Ÿฅ• Host a farm-to-table dinner
๐Ÿด Create a hands-on farm experience
๐ŸŒป Open your property for tours or special events
๐ŸŒฟ Share your farm, garden, animals, or rural lifestyle with visitors

Now is the time to start thinking about it!

๐Ÿ“… Applications are expected to open in late November 2026, but you don't have to wait until then to learn more.

Airbnb and American Farmland Trust are hosting FREE online workshops for farmers and anyone interested in learning more about agritourism and farm stays:

๐Ÿ“Œ October 14 at 5:00 PM ET
๐Ÿ“Œ November 13 at 12:00 PM ET

The workshops will cover hosting, rural and farm stays, setting up a listing, what guests are looking for, and how agritourism can become an additional income stream.

If youโ€™ve ever looked around your property and thought, โ€œI wonder if I could turn this into something visitors would loveโ€ฆโ€ โ€” this is your sign to explore the possibilities! ๐ŸŒพโค๏ธ

Meigs County has an incredible agricultural heritage, beautiful rural landscapes, and stories worth sharing. Letโ€™s see what opportunities we can create right here at home!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn more about the Farm to Stay Grant Program through the American Farmland Trust.

Big news! ๐ŸŽ‰ American Farmland Trust and Airbnb are teaming up to launch the โ€œFarm to Stayโ€ Grant Program, offering farmers and ranchers grants of up to $10,000 to create or expand farm stays, ranch stays, and on-farm experiences. ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒพ

As farmers face increased economic challenges, Airbnbโ€™s new report shows a typical farm stay host earned roughly $8,000 last year. Whether itโ€™s a traditional Airbnb stay, hosting farm-to-table dinners, offering w**e tastings, or creating hands-on agricultural experiences, these grants will help producers open their gates to new visitors and new revenue opportunities. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘
