🎹 An evening with Erik Olson

Born in Montana and recently settled in Athens, GA, pianist and organist Erik Olson brings a deep love of groove, melody, and the wide-open possibilities of improvised music. His playing is soulful and tasteful, shaped by jazz, roots music, and adventurous collaboration, and his warm energy makes every room feel a little more alive.

On this special evening, Olson is joined by Colin Agnew on drums and Neal Fountain on bass for a program of mostly original compositions.

Mike Walton has been performing at Churchill Grounds Jazz for well over a decade. From our location at the Fox on Peachtree, during our era at pop-up jam sessions, as a regular at Ten ATL and most recently as a guest musician at our Monday night jam sessions. This is common knowledge, what you may not know is that before Sam's transition, Mike performed several Coltrane songs for Sam at Brew and Bird and it was so moving that Sam talked about Mike's show for days and weeks to come.

Mike will be performing a Churchill Grounds tonight and we encourage you to support him, his art and his connection to the legacy that brings us all together under the Churchill banner. Tonight at 8pm and again at 10, we are pleased and honored to present to you one of our own, the incomparable, unstoppable, the very talented Mike Walton. Tickets are 40 dollars. Seating will be limited.

We started this week with an explosive performance and nearly sold-out show thanks to Frankie Quiñones and his Latin Jazz Collective. The entire night was filled with great music, good food and a vibrancy unmatched. Every night there is something new and we plan to end the week with another high energy, mind-blowing performance.
