The Faith Leaders of Color Coalition (flocc) is a multifaith national justice organization.
Henderson Hill, a capital litigator for more than 35 years recounts his journey of fighting against the system, founding organizations and inner conflicts of being raised in a community that supports the death penalty.
He also talks about the profound affect the King family and their human rights philosophy played in his conviction against the death penalty.
Bishop Robin Dease talks about how justice and healing are not the same. She talks about how our thirst for vengeance will not heal our bring back anyone who was lost to violent crime.
Rev. Dr. Allen Hollie (Allen Hollie Jr.) talks about how his journey to end the death penalty came about when he witnessed the death of his father as an incarcerated man in a hospital. He talks about believing in those who are redeemed, and God as the only author and finisher of human life.
Assistant Federal Public Defender, Amanda Bass Castro-Alves discusses how resources can sometimes dictate the quality of your defense in the criminal legal system.
Bishop Robert C. Wright discusses his journey to end the death penalty and how the act itself is un-Christian. Bishop Wright calls capital punishment a culture of “state sanctioned vengeance.” He calls the names of Howard Thurman, Sis. Hele Prejean, Dorothy Day and other contemporary guides who led him on this journey.

After the grand jury determined that the evidence presented in the Nolan Wells case did not establish criminal conduct sufficient for an indictment, we’re saddened that we are still left with so many questions, rather than answers.
This panel unanimously returned a “no true bill,” meaning it did not find sufficient evidence to indict anyone for a crime, even though we have yet to receive a complete autopsy from the Mississippi medical examiner.
Hopefully, we learned that Mississippi has no statute of limitations for homicide. It specifically says that if credible evidence emerges indicating that Nolan’s death was not accidental, the matter could be presented to the grand jury again.
