The Illinois Master Naturalist program strives to improve public understanding of the natural world through education and outreach activities.
University of Illinois Extension offers a Master Naturalist Program to local residents within DeWitt, Macon & Piatt Counties. This opportunity provides science-based educational opportunities that connect people with nature and help them become engaged environmental stewards. The Illinois Master Naturalist program strives to improve public understanding of the natural world through natural resource education and outreach activities. Comments, links, photos, and videos are welcome on all University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign social media platforms. Don't toss those pumpkins once Oct. 31 passes! Bring them to Pumpkin Smash 2026 on Nov. 7 in the old pool lot in Fairview Park, anytime between 9 a.m. and noon.
You can smash, toss, stomp, or just hand your pumpkin to one of the University of Illinois Extension Master Naturalists onsite. We'll take care of getting it to a composting facility.
**Please remove candles, ribbons, paint, and any other non-organic materials!

There is no charge to attend, and we welcome anyone 18 and up.

Monarch Madness is next Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Come celebrate, learn, and help send our monarchs on their incredible journey south.
Advance registration is not necessary to attend. Just show up with your family and enjoy the afternoon!
