🦷 Community Spotlight: Elgin, Illinois Team Brings Dental Care to 80+ Children!

Last week, the Familia Dental team from Elgin, Illinois was proud to bring dental care directly into the community at the Jerri Hoffman Child & Family Center!

Dr. Cheethi from our Elgin clinic provided dental exams to more than 80 infants and toddlers, helping these little smiles get a healthy start on their oral health journey. 💙

A special thank you to Roxana Jimenez, Director of Community Relations, for coordinating Familia Dental’s participation and helping make this event possible.

🦷 September is National Gum Care Month!🦷

Healthy smiles start with healthy gums, and cleaning between your teeth every day is an important part of keeping them healthy!

Brushing is important, but your toothbrush can’t reach everywhere. Flossing helps remove plaque and food from between teeth and along the gumline, helping keep gums clean and healthy.

However you prefer to floss, the important thing is to find a method that works for you and make it part of your daily routine.

Children's Tooth Tip of the Day: How long should children brush and how much toothpaste?
Children under 3 years old: Help your child brush twice a day for 2 minutes with a soft toothbrush with a smear (the size of a grain of rice) of toothpaste.

Children 3 years old and older: Help your child brush twice a day for 2 minutes with a pea-size amount of toothpaste. Teach your child to spit the toothpaste out. When your child has teeth that touch, help them floss once a day.

Children 10 years and older: They usually can brush and floss on their own. Help them remember to brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time and floss once a day.
