The Decatur Police Department is excited to join forces with the Food Bank of North Alabama to help make a difference for families right here in our community.

On Saturday, September 19, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM (or until food runs out), our teams and members of the community will come together with a goal of feeding at least 500 local families.

“Our goal is not just to distribute food, but to provide meaningful support,” said Chief Torry Mack. “We look forward to serving our neighbors and working together to strengthen our community.”

Our Decatur Drive-Thru Food Distribution will take place in the rear parking lot of Decatur City Hall. Vehicles will enter the rear parking lot from Ferry Street NE and exit onto Cain Street NE. (Please see the map below.)

Feel free to invite your neighbors, family, and friends to this free event. We can't wait to see you!

📣 BIG NEWS, BLACK BEARS! 🐻🧡

This school year, Austin Middle School is excited to launch Snackin’ with the SRO!

Led by Officer Schutt, this new initiative is designed to strengthen positive relationships between our students and the Decatur Police Department while recognizing students who consistently make great choices.

Each Student of the Month (October -April) winner will be invited to enjoy snacks and conversation with Officer Schutt in a relaxed, welcoming environment. It’s an opportunity to celebrate leadership, responsibility, respect, and the positive impact our students make every day.

At Austin Middle School, we believe that building strong relationships helps create a safe, supportive school community where every student can thrive.

🐾 You Show Up. You Show Out. We See You!

We can’t wait to kick off this exciting new tradition and celebrate the amazing students who make Black Bear Nation shine!
