Call, email, text, or chat with us? The people you see here are among those on the other end of the line.

Last year alone, they helped customers plan nearly 400,000 trips over the phone, through our website, or via text and returned nearly 3,000 items. Increasingly, they are also out on the system meeting customers where they are.

As we close out Customer Service Week, we invite you to give these customer-focused members of our team a round of applause.

And if we can help you in any way, please reach out! https://www.metrotransit.org/contact-us

These mechanics know Metro Transit buses inside and out, and proved it at our annual Bus Maintenance Roadeo, where teams competed in written and hands-on challenges covering everything from HVAC systems and transmissions to air brakes, engines and vehicle inspections.

Congratulations to our winners:
1st (two years in a row!): Rudy Ramnarain • Griffen Still • Christopher Thull
2nd: Nick Hendrickson • Arlo Lusk • Jack Obee
3rd: Dan Aasen • Ravie Sawh • Mike Touroutoutoudis

And congratulations to all the teams who competed and to all the mechanics who keep our buses ready to roll every day.

Armah F. is no stranger to long journeys.

In 1995, he came from Nigeria to the United States as a refugee. Nearly 20 years later, encouraged by a friend, he moved from long-haul trucking into a new career as a bus operator.

The shift from carrying cargo to carrying people brought a new sense of purpose. Instead of working alone, Armah connects with riders throughout the day. “I enjoy talking with people and meeting new passengers,” he said. “It makes the job more interesting.”

The career change has also reshaped life off the road. After years away, Armah now comes home to spend time with his family when work is over. “I get to go home to my family and sleep in my bed every night,” Armah said. He also enjoys the positive and supportive work environment and the chance to get to learn more about the place he calls home.

For those considering Metro Transit, his message is simple:
“Go for it. It’s a good job, and you get to meet a lot of people."

Could you go a week without driving? That’s the challenge presented by , which begins today.

In honor of this challenge, we introduce you to Bus Stop Coordinator Sam Adams, who hasn’t owned a car for nearly 30 years.

🚍 How do you generally get around?
The mode depends on the mission and the mood. It’s so much easier to use transit now than it was in the 1990s (when I last owned a car), and I ride whenever I can, especially the METRO A, B, and Blue lines. My south Minneapolis neighborhood, Ericsson, has excellent transit service and is very walkable and bikeable. I’m also an HOURCAR member, which helps when I want to move bulky things or visit less accessible places.

🚍 What do you enjoy most about taking transit?
I enjoy the time and space it gives me to process tasks, text, listen to music, and appreciate the beauty of the metro area while traveling.

🚍 What advice do you have for people who are unsure about taking transit?
Install the Transit app on your phone. It’s a game changer, especially when there are multiple ways to get somewhere but you want the best connection. Remember that every ride you take is a vote of confidence in your community and in the ability of people to work together.
