๐ถโโ๏ธ October is Pedestrian Safety Month - a reminder that everyone has a role in keeping people safe on the road.
๐ The chart shows how speed changes stopping distance: about 85 feet at 25 mph compared with 229 feet at 50 mph. Higher impact speeds also increase the risk of severe or fatal injuries for pedestrians.
๐ Drivers: slow down, put your phone away, and yield to people in crosswalks. ๐ต
๐๐ฝโโ๏ธPedestrians: use crosswalks, stay visible, and make sure drivers see you before crossing. ๐
Letโs look out for one another and help keep Modestoโs streets safe. ๐

๐ October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Throughout the month, Modesto Police Officers Carrillo and Lee, along with Detective Harris, met with students at a local high school to discuss the importance of safe, healthy relationships. These conversations empower young people to recognize warning signs, understand boundaries, and know where to turn for support.
Students learned that healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, consent, and open communication. Abuse can take many forms, including threats, humiliation, isolation, or controlling someoneโs phone, friendships, and daily activities.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, you are not alone. Help is available. ๐
