Vanda Gallery is pleased to welcome Dr. Mahbobe Ghods
Mahbobe is an artist, printmaker, and researcher living and working in New York and holds an EdD in Art Education, an MFA, and a BA in printmaking. She currently teaches printmaking and new media courses at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Ghods’ research interests focus on the transition and change through printmaking in the arts, particularly in relation to media processes. She is currently engaged in a project on nineteenth-century lithography in Iran and its influence on Iranian modern art. Her work on the assimilation of pre-Islamic ceramics has been a significant source for her recent exhibition and has inspired new research in the field. She has presented her research nationally and internationally, including at the College of Art and Architecture (CAA), the National Association for Education in the Arts (NAEA), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Institute National des Études de l’Orient (INSEA), and the Roshan Institute.
Mahbobe has had numerous solo exhibitions and is represented in various private and public collections. She curated the international installation titled “Making Invisible Visible,” which toured Troy, New York; Delft, Netherlands; and Berlin, Germany, among others, and the final exhibition at the Macy Gallery, Teachers College, Columbia University. She has showcased her exploration of tribal living and art research at the Shahr Kord cultural center and Mekik cultural center in Montreal, Canada. She has also created special edition books, artists’ books, illustrated books, and zines. Her miniature works were published in “Sadi in Love” in collaboration with Dr. Homa Katuzian. Her work on images through time on ceramics vessels from Iran before and after the Islamic era was the subject of a major exhibition at the Elizabeth Foundation in 2019 in New York. In 2021, her work was recognized as “the best work on paper” at the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, New York.
Join us November 7th 3-5 pm, for opening reception of her solo exhibition at Vanda Gallery, meet the artist in@person and enjoy her unique style.

America 250: Red, White or Blue
May 12 to June 20
RECEPTION: FRIDAY JUNE 12 th, 5-7 PM
commemorative exhibition presented by the
NRAA and hosted by Vanda Gallery, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The show brings together a diverse community of visual artists in a shared celebration of national identity, artistic expression, and collective history.
For me, this exhibition holds particular significance, as it reconnects me with the community I first began exhibiting my work with at the start of my artistic career.
As an Iranian American, I also carry a quiet sense of gratitude for the service and sacrifice of U.S. soldiers, and for the ways this country continues to support and stand with the Iranian people during this difficult times. Participating in this milestone event not only honors the nation’s legacy, but also reflects the resilience, solidarity, and shared hopes that connect countries across borders.
