Authorities report that this Tennessee escape convict has fled to Southern Illinois!

UPDATE: Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has increased the state reward to $10,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of escaped inmate Jacob Allen Morley, whose stolen getaway truck was found in Marion.

Marion Police Chief David Fitts and Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich both confirmed there had been no new substantial leads in the case after the vehicle was found.

Lee authorized the increase from $2,500 in an Oct. 28 letter to District Attorney General Danny H. Goodman Jr. The letter followed Goodman’s request for a larger reward as authorities continued searching for Morley.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the truck Morley stole after his escape was found abandoned in Marion early Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Morley, 28, escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, late Sunday, Oct. 25. Prison staff discovered he was missing around 11:30 p.m., according to the Tennessee Department of Correction.

Officials said security footage showed Morley getting through the perimeter fence and leaving in his prison uniform. He was serving a life sentence for murder and other convictions in Carter County, Tennessee.

Lee’s letter states that the $10,000 state reward will be divided among eligible informants if more than one qualifies.

Morley is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and 240 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Authorities consider him dangerous and urge anyone who sees him to avoid approaching him and call 911.
