Our thanks to Dr Wilfred Farquhason, Clinical Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health, for being our guest speaker today. We talked about Javits Frimpong killing and how we need unity and acceptance among the African diaspora. We discussed the Cornel 7 and women not being able to give consent if they are intoxicated. Also we discussed the potential distress for people of color who don’t connect to their culture. Real talk that leads to stronger morals and principles in our young men!

Thank you Mayor Rainey for supporting BDAS from the beginning! We look forward to you and all the other men who spoke at the rally to come and speak to our guys one Sunday. That could be a first step on going from a moment to a movement. Asé

Thank you Brother Darryl Francis for adding another strong perspective to the rally. What happens next is the question. The hope is always that one step leads to the next… King said that faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. We will find a way to step forward together.

Thank you Brother Tucs for adding your voice to the event. Needed advice to our young men… get support, take advantage of opportunities, remember where you come from, know that you are a target. This is about life and death.

Thanks brother Greg Seeley for sharing another critical point for us to instill in our young men. Decisions and choices they make now will indeed impact them for the rest of their lives. We need to make good decisions to continue to improve our communities.
